Hi,

I have a 1.4 Grande Punto Active, this morning when I started my car, I got a "CANCHECK" message on the radio/CD display panel. The ABS light, City Power Steering, Airbag and some other lights were also on. I also noticed that the indicators were not working as well as the headlamps and the speedo meter, petrol meter,heat gauge and rev counter.

I switched the car off and left it for 30minutes. When I switched it on - everything was fine again.

My dealer does not have any anwsers.

Have anyone experienced this before? Could it only be fuses??

My turn to get this today (well actually was my gf) + beepings. Apparently it went away after switching it off for a few minutes.

I would have had the latest updates by April/May - anything else I can try?

i know my old 02 punto did have the Can but sometimes when you came to start it or turn it off all the dash board lights used to stay on.
apparently caused by static electricity build up.
now any one who knows anything about computer chips and memory knows static plays hell.

The problem was got rid of on the 02 punto for several months by simply disconnecting the positive battery lead for 30 minutes.
this shouldnt effect any setting of the onboard computer other than time.
and the ecu will reset and have to learn your driving patterns.

it worked on the 02 it may well work on Grande's too.
My gp dynamic sport 1.4 16v is due to arrive at bristol off the boat soon .
if i get this or any other problem i will be sure to let you know.

GP problem of lights staying on is different to that of older punto...thus software update.

Can you tell me when the latest software update was released please?

Just how 'sad' do you think I am Kev.........got latest software disc last week (not read whats on it yet) but body computer software update has been around few months.

I think T14086 is referring to the Fiat update disc which a dealer gets which contains the software updates. Might be wrong!

Quite correct Mr Brickdog

That implies the software update can't cure the error messages.

Kev,software updates are for many reasons.It can inform/reprogramme modules to disregard certain parameters,it can ensure better communication between modules,change & update parameters of fuel ECU,cluster,body computer,door modules etc etc

Well I haven't seen any strange error messages for a while so I'll wait till my first service and get them to do all the updates then (betcha now that I said this I'll see the error messages today :bang
