Had Angel tuning to re-map my 1.9 Grande Punto and my 2.3 JTD motorhome yesterday.

After several hours in the pouring rain Andy from Angel failed to find a way to access the CPU. in the Punto.

Has anyone had their 1.9 tuned by Angel? Have they been able to do it?

Motorhome much improved with better acceleration and low-down torque.
Very disappointed the Punto could not be re-mapped though!

Dissapointing news, I am sure these boys will find a way of doing it so don't despair too much. In a selfish way it means none of you Punto owners are going to start coming past me then at any time soon then.

This is what you would like to think.:p We can map it and have an induction kit for it under development.

Was in contact with Angel tuning about a potential 1.4 8v remap, but have heard nothing back from them in 2 weeks. :(

I noticed that theres some kind of ECU connector on the drivers side near the fuel cut off/reset switch, is that what they used to plug in there equipment?

oldschool, have you actually achieved any of the re-maps or Stilo inductions? everything seems a long time coming, lot's of development but not much to show.

Maps for all Stilos are available. You only need to come and get them. Induction kits for 1.8 have been fitted to several Stilos.

Bozzy,
I'm awaiting my GSR induction aswell but If I'm honest it'll be well worth the wait! The 1.8 stilo / punto HGT kit is exactly that.. a serious bit of kit! I see Pete on a fairly regular basis and I've been nagging him for my kit and remap etc but he wont sell it to me till its spot on! I asked last week for a remap and he wont do it till the induction is complete! Thats enough to convince me that he is a bit of a perfectionist! The developement time involved is exactly that! Development! These kits aren't just a pretty hose and filter assembly (although they do look good!) they actually work! The bhp and torque gains on the 1.8 are incredible for an induction kit!
The posts left for people to lend their car's for developement aren't there for fun they're there because he needs feedback on the kit fitted. GSR isn't a huge company like the K&N's PiperX etc so developement is much more intense, providing much more personal results...
I personally am gagging for my kit but it'll be worth it based on experience!! Just ask the punto and seicento owners!!

Yes I get that but you lot obviously have more patience than me, if I can't have it now I buy something else. Nobody could do anything with my 1.6 so I chopped it for the JTD. I get the impression Pete is a bit of a perfectionist but theres a load of people out there gagging for more power and he's seen as the only hope. If I buy the Punto JTD instead of an Abarth I need to know what's in the pipeline before committing. Strange thing about AngelTuning not being able to do the remap for the OP.

But I would say that!! he he he:devil:

Hi. Dave,

Andy said, that the wire needed to access the ECU was not in the wiring loom.

He said he would have to contact Italy for a way around it, but they were on holiday for the whole of August and he would contact me in September.

Do Fiat change things like wiring looms from car to car?

Sorry, no idea! Just repeating what I was told by Andy.

It was in the middle of a thunder-storm and I was panicking because the drivers window was wide open, perhaps Angel Tuning would take on your question as I have already been emailed by Nige. for being NEGATIVE on the Forum.

To redress my negativity, the Ducato is very much improved.

ah so its was a weired fiat thing, nothing to do with angle tuning,

hi all, would like to clear a few things up.

We can remap the grande punto 1.9, by opening the ECU up and doing it directly onto the ECU with a bit of desoldering too, which a number of other companies are also offering.

However we have found that the majority of owners do not want us to take the ECU out and apart to do this so we have been working with the guys in Italy to do this part diagnsotically and we thought we had cracked it, but alas it wasn't to be with all of them as we found out on this vehicle and one other this week, and as mentioned the Italians are on holiday so we couldnt get the support we required. Beleive me, we were as frustrated as the owners.

We initially thought the wiring had changed and without having two cars to compare side by side and a fading memory we couldnt be 100% certain, HOWEVER, we may have had an issue with the lead we were using, as we tried to do a car later yesterday that we do loads of and had a similar problem, so it may not have been the ECU or the procedure - just the bloody lead!

My thanks to Newdog22 for allowing us the time on his vehicle

Now for the 1.4 question, I thought we had answered all your questions and were waiting for the available date to come and do it for you?? My apologies if you were waiting an answer on something, I have had a trawl back through the emails and can't find anything unanswered?!?
