Re: My New Fiat Punto Grande Failed MOT

This is the second fiat i have owned....both were faulty.
My old Punto had a braking fault, they never found it and i couldnt drive it.
Im fed up with being told that i have to have it fixed, now i dont!
Im not scaremongering, im pointing out facts to the best of my knowledge.
No one can say any 2 cars will be the same.
I understand your loyalty to fiat as an employee.
I was just suggesting that people did have their cars looked at by an independent assessor because from my experience fiat will say anything to get rid of you.
They have mis-diagnosed faults before on my cars.

rob19791, He's offered to inspect your car, what more can he do?

NumanR, what exactly has the MOT inspector got wrong? Has he put the wrong code to the fault?

Re: My New Fiat Punto Grande Failed MOT

Don’t accept a repair on your new Fiat Grande Punto if you have been told to have a new steering rack fitted

If you have a Fiat Punto Grande 2006 I really think you should have an MOT done NOW.

Scaremongering?
Enough said I think

Re: My New Fiat Punto Grande Failed MOT

The fail document says there is excessive play at the steering wheel. Doesn't sound like the vertical movement you described earlier NumanR.

I had that twice with my 1.4 16v in the 3 months I'm driving it. Also when going from the 1st to the 2nd. I'm not worried as my friend that owns a Idea had it also a couple of times and he said that it's because it is a Fiat. No seriously I don't think it's a problem unless you have it all the time.

Fair enough, maybe that was wrong of me.

Re: My New Fiat Punto Grande Failed MOT

I quite agree H, but that doesnt mean the fault isnt the same.

If you look at the Grande Rack thread you will see this joker only wants his money back anyway and isnt interested in Fiats, he is just trying to cause trouble and shows his ignorance in most threads he adds to.

There is no safety problem with Grande.

Re: My New Fiat Punto Grande Failed MOT

Initially i really wanted a fiat. but the best thing i ever did was go to a FIAT dealer, let them waste my time for a little bit then go across the road to renault and by a NEW clio! wonderful FIAT couldnt thank them enough!

Re: My New Fiat Punto Grande Failed MOT

I really dont understand why a dealer would advise you to get a MOT on a new car...and why you would want your car put on the system when it doesnt need one for 3 years

Surely you could of just got an independant garage to check it and give you a report of their analysis of the problem and get them to comment on there it would fail a mot and then given that to the dealer.....

Does that not mean now your have to MOT your car again when its fixed? or in a years time?

and how do we know you aren't friendly with the MOT guy that did the test for you?

Re: My New Fiat Punto Grande Failed MOT

mmm....
read the above posts.
Car has to pass an mot to be driven again. A normal garage couldnt write a report to stand up in court as i could know them.
Like the above posts say, why would an MOT tester put his livelyhood on the line for a £40 MOT?????

Re: My New Fiat Punto Grande Failed MOT

I know of a few garages that do MOT's on the sly for £70 a pop, so the new system is hardly fool proof

I still dont understand why you got the car mot'd when it didnt need it....
and then having to go through the hassle of having to take it back again....

MOT is a legal document where as a report from a garage isn't. Looks like the most likely explaination.
