Hi All,

Fitting a decat pipe and 200 cell cat under car in the next few weeks and will need to lengthen the downstream O2 wiring harness and not sure how to go about it.

I've read that the cable is stainless or something else exotic that will not solder easily and, that it should not be soldered regardless as the sensor draws air through the cable for reference.

I know I could get a spacer and leave sensor in original position to get around EML but I'd rather have it post cat as it should be so I know the cat is doing what it should.

Any pointers appreciated.

Cheers

Ben

I'd just crimp the wires together after inserting some suitable wire to extend the loom.

If you buy a universal 02 sensor from the likes of Bosch etc that what they come with anyway - i.e you chop the connector off your duff lambda then join it using the supplied connector block to the new unit to reuse it

You may be able to buy that exact connector from the likes off rs components?

The bigger issue might be getting the right wiring, if it is indeed not copper...maybe you could rip something of a car at a scrappy for that...i.e the one opposite Tesco at Danestone? Or RS Components again.

I can confirm the wires are not regular copper.. or easily to solderer wires.
I recommend getting another connector with wires as long as possible from a brakers.. you could buy the whole sensor, and cut the wires off.
I heard there are some shrink wrapped crimp connectors that also have some silicone /hot glue for 100% seal-- specifically designed for automotive applications.

really? over 2 meters? i doubt that
I suggest you get a genuine one. you might have problems with a good sensor reading correctly because of the new location of the CAT. you don't want to complicate that by now being sure the sensor is ok. most you will save is 30-35 gbp. not worth the hassle.

Checked with the seller and it is apparently as advertised and he'll give a full refund if not happy. Part numbers all tie up too.
You are probably right Aurick, but, I think I'll go for it and fit it in original location with OE cat and check it reads ok. If it doesn't, then I've got the lead for under £30 to crimp or connect to original sensor which is ok other than being too short to fit where I need it to go. Only harness extension I can find is from USA and considerably more than £30 delivered.

Cheers

Ben
