Hey guys.

I have a grande punto tjet 2009.

I am trying to find an oil that matches the grade of what my manual says: '5w 40 fiat 9.55535-s2'. I know selenia kpe is what u should be using but it abit pricey to be honest. Can anyone tell me any other brands that meet to this specification. As I can find 5w -40 but do not seem to list the Fiat 9.55535-s2 in their specifications?

Any help would be great.

Castrol edge Titanium 5w40 meets fiat specs, occasionally on offer in Tesco, currently on offer in Costco.

Petronas syntium also covers the spec to my knowledge, check Opie oils.

Cheers

You were rght mate. Also castrol magnatec 5w40 meets the requirements. Not sure about sytium tho as I look in description and it was specifying the actual fiat number required.

These are two brands that are compatible. Both from castrol. I went with magnatec as the titanium seems to be.marginly better but the price increase is nor marginal.

Every couple of months, large Tesco stores have Edge at about half price. I got 8l that cost me less that £50. Costco wholesale have on offer just now too.
I assume your America based since your saying Costco. In the UK I've kept an eye on tesco. But don't seem to stock the one I need. But either way I guess we're always saving by doing these jobs ourselves compared to paying a garage

We have a Costco in Aberdeen! I check Tesco about every two weeks for cheap oil then hoard it when on offer!
What I have always wondered. When you buy oil it's clearly off the shelf. But how do you know your not getting an oil that been sitting their for years? Surely even in a bottle it starts to diminish over time?

Production date is more likely written on the bottle/can together with batch #, factory id etc.
