My GP's dipstick snapped somehow (it'd been in the garage a week or two before I noticed, so maybe they were a bit heavy handed with it)

I've tried to source one from a scrapyard without luck. I grabbed one from another GP, 99% sure it was a petrol like mine but it doesn't seem to be long enough. Either that or my oil is critically low!

Anyone got a 16v 1.4 and mind telling me how long the dipstick is meant to be? My theory is that i've bought one from a 1.2/8v and it's a shorter length..

There has been a similar post weeks ago where the OP had a top leveled stick with only a pint or so...
He thought there was some mud deposit or debris in the oilpan but we suggested the stick was too long. I don't think we ever had the final result of his investigation (as too often)
Anyway, oil level is quite a serious stuff; I'd go to an official dealer and buy the correct part from them, should not cost an arm ...

BRs, Bernie

thanks bernie, i'll call the local dealer and see how much they want for it. trawling through eper seems to indicate it's part number 55206822, and that has been replaced by 55228386

i have a bad feeling it won't be as cheap as one would like, but we'll see!
