Hello all :)

I'm currently lighting candles, sacrificing goats and otherwise girding my loins for the great EGR removal and cleanup.

It should've happened last week. However, I realised that there's a corroded pipe on the car so as I'm draining the coolant anyway it seems like a good time to replace that as well. It looks like I'll be honouring an age old Punto tradition when I do... https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-mk2-2b-guides/193395-how-replace-steel-coolant-carrier-pipe.html

However I've not yet managed to identify the part number and get a spare located.

It's a steel section of pipe on the line which runs from the engine block to the radiator. If I'm looking at the car from the front the pipe connects to a hose at the bottom left of the radiator and runs across the front of the engine at the bottom before it connects to a hose which runs upwards into the block.

Does anyone know how I can identify it so that I get the right part? Ebay and the various part places I've looked at haven't been much help.

Many thanks, as ever, for anyone who can lend their expertise. :worship:

Matt

Couple of images from underneath the car. It's on the drivers side.

Hy Mattyo,

don't worry too much for water leaking here, that pipe is the turbo to intercooler connection ...
Two part # available, depending what engine you have (75 vs 90 bhp) Look for Heat exchanger and pipe

Regards, Bernie

 In my defence, the MOT advisory said water pipe :eek::eek:

I have the 75bhp variety. I'll get on to this, please add this advice on to my tab (y)

Seriously, thanks once again. I've had a look on the forum and found this: https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/298084-problematic-turbo-intercooler-hose-failure.html so looks like I'm not the only one with the issue. Grazie Fiat :D

Can't find it :(

It seems like there's loads of fist doblo hoses and ones for the 1.9 but I can't find anyone with it bar the Indian company. May try the breakers and see if I can find one that way.

Nothing is straightforward:rolleyes:

Not sure how the price compares but a seller in Italy has listed one of those on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PUNTO-EVO...402224?hash=item1ec63552b0:g:lE0AAOSw42dZA4Gm

PUNTO EVO GRANDE PUNTO MITO
1.3 MULTIJET 90 / 95 CV
MANICOTTO TUBO DAL TURBO ALL' INTERCOOLER
NUOVO ORIGINALE
RIF. FIAT: 55703073

No mention of the 1.3 75 in the description

You could also try getting a price from your local Fiat dealer (parts department)?

Thanks for posting it.

That looks like it's for the 90bhp and not the 75 :( I may have identified the wrong one.

Have to say I've found this process ridiculously difficult!

Hi Mattyo,

you should find the part # in ePer, or @ your prefered dealer, probably for an insane price, so it's worth having some difficulties..;
BTW, my 1.3mjt90 from 2009 with almost 100.000 km mainly done on Belgian salty roads and no plastic guard underneath is 100% corrosion free, this pipe is just like new...

Regards, Bernie

And if you are really lazy, here's what you're looking for ;) :

Believe me, it's not for laziness or want of looking! I've been on Russian, Indian, Italian sites. I've been through the stock lists of dedicated turbo hose manufacturers. Ebay UK and Italy.

It turned into a proper quest.

Today Fiat told me that it would cost 117 quid for the pipe and the clip. :( For a lousy length of pipe and a jubilee clip? After the paramedics revived me I found your post. It looks like there must be 3 different similar parts as Fiat quoted a different parts number.

I'm going to look some more and maybe try a few more scrappy's cause the thought of giving Fiat over 100 quid for that has me seething!

ps, thanks btw I do appreciate it...

 ... did they only have the gold-plated ones in stock?

I assume this one comes on a golden chariot yoked to 12 unicorns with diamond encrusted horns. Either that or they are royally taking the p*** :)

What number did they give?

Rather annoyingly he read it out over the phone but it wasn't on the quote. :bang: It wasn't the one I expected and I think it ended in 8 so it wasn't the one Bernie posted either.

Sure it's not laziness, was kind of kidding ! Bernie

I know, but I also know from other forums where I do know what I'm talking about when people come on asking questions and they don't appear to have at least attempted to get an answer.

I just wanted to make sure you knew I wasn't one of those people. Clueless? Yes! But I have been trying..

Thanks for the italian link. I'm wondering now if I can get one made like the guy in the other thread did.

Success :D

I found someone scrapping a 1.3 75bhp model which had only done 17k and the full section, pipes sleeve and collar was mine for 30 quid :slayer:

The guy was really helpful, he put the car up on the ramp and showed me how to fit it. Looks like I'll try and get to the turbo at the same time and see if my problems relate to the wastegate...

But thats another story...

well done ! Thought you had EGR problems ? Can you tell us more, what are the symptoms ??

Regards, Bernie

Car goes into limp mode at 3000 rpm and engine m light comes on. Error code: P0234 from ODBC

I assumed EGR but my new friend thinks turbo wastegate more likely. Other option was Airflow sensor but apparently this would effect revving from standing start?
