I have a 2007 Grande Punto Sporting 1.9 Diesel. A couple of weeks ago Service Certificate Expired (or something like that) came up on the dash. It has now stopped appearing. I am going to change the oil and filters this weekend. Do I need to have something reset or can i just carry on driving. If it needs reset can I do this myself. On my Rover I had a plug in tool with a button that just reset Service interval.

I believe on the GP the Oil Service is reset thru the body computer, which means MES needs to communicate with the FIAT proprietary CAN bus (pins 1 & 9). The yellow adapter cable is therfore also required...

Regards, Bernie

No, its just a service light indicator that is reset with the tools mentioned above.

At some point when you will have to take the car in for a job at a garage then ask them to read the fault codes and reset the indicator, if they have the right scanner tools (which most good garages do) then is a two minute job and if they have done other work for you normally is gratis otherwise £30-£50 to read, clear and reset system. :)
