I went to the holiday house and washed the car there and after that tried to drive it but it would not go out of first and all the bells and whistles went off and so on. Started, restarted and even disconnected the battery but to no avail. After about 20 mins of I got up to 3rd in auto but it wouldnt have anything to do with 4th or semi auto so we decided to go home in the dark on small roads without much traffic. Eventually auto got to 4th but still got the warning trans message and red light. It would go on and off intermittently. Then after 50 mins it stayed off for 10 mins so I tried semi auto and got all gears. Took it out later that night and no problems and still no problems. I noticed water in the battery tray. Did I wet some sensitive electrical components when I hosed it down? Or is the battery losing its charge? What possibly could it have been?

Hi Steve,

battery tray is very close to fuse/connection box, I wouldn't be surprised that you wet it underneath. Dualogic sensors connectors are also in this area... Anyway, it seems that everything's dryed-up by now, so if it stays like this just be a bit more carefull when you hose it next time...

Ok, thanks for that information. Appreciate it. Glad it is just something minor.

My pleasure !

be specially carefull when you hose the front left wheel arch, there is a "service" hatch perfectly located at the worst place: high pressure washing to remove mud from there would result in weting the fusebox underneath... Some silicone or hot glue might help here.

Regards, Bernie
