Hello everyone,

I'm on a new weird project about replacing Grande Punto Instrument Cluster with the new Fiat Punto EVO ones. Both are almost the same thing, the connector is exactly the same, the controller/ inside are bit different (version is newer but it is recognized), sizes are lightly different (EVO ones is a bit bigger but almost fits, but you need to remove some plastic parts)... But incredibly, "IT WORKS!".

Yes, I said "IT WORKS!" because 99% works out of box, just replacing the instrument cluster (Full LCD display, Background Light, Errors, Blue&Me, Radio, Configuration Menu, turn signal indicators, Temperature, door indicators, light indicators,...) and the best: RPM Counter, Fuel meter and Temp Meter WORKS! but the other 1% percent are some stuff that really annoys, CITY MODE Indicator doesn't turns on, Speedometer does not work nor Kilometer counter (LCD with Kilometers blinks) I found that there is TWO Faults, one that says something like:

"NO BODY COMPUTER - MISSING MESSAGE - LAST TEST PASSED UNSUCCESSFULLY - ERROR PRESENT".

and other from engine that says:

"(NO ENGINE (MCU)* - MISSING MESSAGE - LAST TEST PASSED UNSUCCESSFULLY - ERROR PRESENT".
*I am not sure if it says "(MCU)", but if is not, it is something similar.

Manually, with AlfaOBD, I have checked if speedometer is damaged or not, but messages from OBDII with ELM327 works with no problem, so ALL instrument cluster works properly (as itself, not along with the car due to those faults) and it is not damaged.

I think that I need to make a Proxy aligment, get a new Fiat Code Card form Fiat dealer (in Spain 48€ + taxes, like +21% of the price), insert the code before make a new Proxy aligment, and then do it, am I right?

Thanks in advance!

Let's imagine that is another Fiat Grande Punto Instrument Cluster (NOT EVO). So, I have replaced the old Instrument Cluster for another new, but both are the same kind. When you replace it, does it happens like in this case?

You'll need to perform a Proxy Alignment. If the mileage is flashing, that's a tell-tale sign it needs doing because something electrical in the car has been changed and it doesn't know what to do with it yet.

But also Speedometer stops working until you do PROXY ALIGNMENT process? I mean, it also happens when you change the same version of Intrument Cluster? Or is this a new issue due to I have changed the Original Grande Punto Cluster to Punto EVO?

It's a possibility. Since the new clocks don't see the old ecu, it's entirely possible it won't give a reading until the vehicle specifics are learned (such as wheel size, ABS/ASR present, etc). If it knows non of this, it's likely it won't give you a reading til Proxi-alignment takes place to know it's parameters

That sounds coherent. Well, I will wait until for next month starts, get some money, and I will request for a new Fiat Code Card. You all will get notices about this new project: D

Thanks mate! Always helping! (y):worship:

You don't need the CODE just to do a proxy alignment (at least not on the Bravo)

That is true, but some nodes need to configure them with the CODE, or they will be disabled or undetected properly. In this case, "MultiECUScan" says that Instrument Cluster need to be configured with Fiat CODE to make PROXY ALIGNMENT process

Did you ever make a proxy alignment?

Did you ever make a proxy alignment?

YES I have.... but as i said on the Bravo 198 (yours should be similar)

I also have the code... but i never needed to use it.
I've done proxy alignments a few times, especially when i was having problems with the HILL Hold feature... eventually replaced the ABS unit.. so i did one at that point as well.

Did you have to configure alarm system or immo? I'm affraid to f***k my car and disable programmed Keys, RF Door lock, immo, or similar [emoji27]

PS: I'm in love with bravo, but I didn't have enough money to afford it, so I bought Punto, that it is not bad at all, I'm really in love with it, but bit small for me, I'm almost 2-meters guy hehe [emoji16]

No not played around with the alarm or immobilizer.. i would personally not trust a ELM interface with that. I would go to somebody else... i have a friend with the Multiplexed interface that Multiecuscan sells...

After proxy alignment, all systems keep working Perfect, but instrument cluster keeps failing. During P.A.P. (proxy alignment process) when system tried to connect, system rejected it. I think that is because the I.C. (instrument cluster) is from a non-diesel Vehicle, or my car ECU is programed to Work with I.C. Marelli EP and all cluster from Fiat that is based on that hardware, because EVO is I.C. Marelli EP3, and I need to reprogramming the ECU and tell it that default I.C. is Marelli EP3, or with ELM327, Arduino or similar MCU, read values from ECU, and then send it to I.C., but I think that is not secure, I paid 80€ for a panel that it doesnt fits on my car, I dont want to waste more money, and I dont want to have more headaches, so I decided to bring back to seller.
I'm sad about this, but well, I Will try with other I.C. when available, or in future I Will reprogram ECU
