Technical T jet noise

Thanks for all your suggestions people it's a real pleasure using this forum and I will try everything you have suggested.

If you mean the sheet metal sound close to the beginning (00:05) and the end of the audio clip (01:20) that is either stuff like coins in the car/boot/under seats/carpet ... or the jack in the trunk or exhaust /exhaust heat shield.

Make sure you don't have a bottle/can under the seats.

I would start with removing everything from the boot, back of the car, anything on the door cards etc. and make sure the back seats are fully engaged in they upright locked position (fold them then put them back up making sure they clip in all the way).

I'm pretty sure that's me driving over a cattle grid. The sound is quite hard to spot I think you would have to listen with headphones to really hear it from a recording. I will strip the car down on Monday amongst the other suggestions and post back my findings. I'm driving to Bristol for the weekend so won't be able to do anything till Monday.

Thanks all.

If auricle is right there do you have a full size spare in your trunk like I do on my grande??? If so make sure that screw with plastic top is tight down, i had an awful noise when I didn't tighten mine down properly... just maybe could be it

Find a rough road and drive slowly to inspect for louder noises from the rear.

Also check the exhaust heatshield (the rear one under the boot) and the exhaust mount.

:yeahthat:

There is an other annoying high frequency noise btw, impossible to hear it without headphones.

That's the noise alright. Sounds like when you swing a pipe in circles and you get that wind noise.

I can't detect anything from the record :-( Does it sound like a wooo wooo wooo (as a circling pipe) ?

Regards, Bernie

ps: if you happend to go to The Old Duke in Bristol, give the bar tender my regards, been there 34 years ago ;-)

Yes is does. I inflated the tyres before I drove to Bristol and it was louder. Really bothered me. I've also noticed my tracking is off as my steering wheel is at an angle. I'm going to have all four wheels realigned to see if that helps.

I don't have a full sized spare. I've got a week to play with the car and try to get it sorted.
