Technical grande punto 1.4 Dualogic ecu issue

Very roughly I would list exhaust pipe, left hub, left shaft, intermediate right shaft and support, battery and support, few pipes and wirings, under straightening bar if fitted, and get the box out...
Actually not as easy as writing but it's realy not a hard job. Warning: source the right sockets (E profile) before starting ! Also : engine NEEDS to be supported !!

Hi Callum,

thanks for the update and congrats for your pugnacity !

Now, with your experience, could that bent shaft have been seen from outside ??

Regards, Bernie

Hi The shaft showed no sign of being bent from outside although i thought the pressure plate or bearing had disintegrated as the clutch arm did not return on its own

Im glad you managed to find the problem, thinking it has got to be worth checking to see if i have the same issue with my clutch.
Was the clutch hard to get at and did you remove the gearbox or the engine to access it. I am presuming you removed the gearbox however it would be handy to have an idea of what else has to be moved to access it. Would be grateful if you could advise on what to do as the only transmissions i have worked on in the past has been on much older cars where i took the engine out to do it and i no longer own the equipment to do that.

Hi,

Im a mechanic by trade anyway so wasnt much of an issue for me i took it out on my drive way.

jack up car on both sides and support with axle stands

remove wheels drop bottom ball joints out of hub

drain gearbox oil

remove shafts there held in by a spring clip so will need a lever bar to apply a bit of force

remove battery and battery tray

unplug wiring loom for gearbox

remove bell housing bolts on top

remove brackets and tin plate from underneath

remove gearbox stabiliser

remove starter motor

support engine

remove gearbox mount

drop engine down enough for the gearbox to clear chassis leg

remove last bell housing bolt

remove gearbox

its not in any order aprt from last few so dont hold me to it buddy

but you seem to have the same issue as me with clutch not returning on its own

let me know how you get on

Hi all, this is an interesting read as my newly purchased 2010 Punto Evo has the same PO6OC code as diagnosed by a local Fiat dealer, who want to replace solenoid unit for £1400, but say their team is not experienced with dualogic systems and they cannot guarantee it will fix the problem. Car has history of transmission problems. In 2014 they replaced the gearbox activator unit, and the selespeed control unit. Then in July 2015 they replaced the solenoid and control module.

So I am looking for someone in the East Anglia region who is experienced with dualogics and will do a bit more investigation. Any recommendations?

Hoping to take my Punto to the ForzaLIVE! when she is back up and running:)

get someone to lever the clutch arm towards the actuator with ignition on and see if you can change gear with just ignition on a clutch levered in.

if this works id say check clutch
