wrong ones!!

Yeah! not very encouraging tbh.

Just got a message from a seller selling the meyle top mounts, he said
"hi nothing for your year vehicle im afraid." - even tho the drop down links on page state fit for 2008 grande punto 1.4. SO I messaged him that, he then responded "Hi sorry, do you want left or right?"

I didn't know they are left/right specific?

I've had the Meyle HD drop links one failed after 1 year, the other one the second year.

I've also tried the cheaper Dephy droplink to replace the Meyle.. one year later it's still ok.. but i did see the rubber boot come off at some point (put it back it tried it with some wire).

I think in the future i will stick to either TRW or Lemforder

Bummer on it failing! Were you able to get a replacement from Meyle? they come with a 4 year guarantee?

Don't suppose u know where to find TRW or lemforder top strutt mount and drop links?

Many thanks

The thing in my country is that you need to provide proof that is was installed by an authorized mechanic..etc etc
For some parts it's just not worth it. It took me like 30-40 minutes to get both replaced (i did have access to a impact gun at that time)

And

I was really disappointed with them just wanted to move on to something different.

Have got to say that the Delphy one is still ok one year later ... for costing half the price.. i will see in a few weeks if they need replacing again. this time it might be lemforder.

Just got back from the garage.
Had new front disks and pads, and rear brakes stripped and cleaned.

The rear shoes still had LOADS of life, so no need to fit the replacements I already purchased:rolleyes: so they'll go back to the shop for a return.

Also had the garage look at the top mounts, they removed the springs and found the drivers side top mount to "have play" so i'll be getting the pair replaced along with a pair of drop mounts.

If I supply the parts, they quoted me 1hr labour each side, plus wheel alignment @ £140. labour 80, sundries 5, wheel alignment 31.
Does that sound all good?

garage also said, when taking car off the ramp the power steering went "heavy". and had to turn car off and on for the power steering to work again. i've not noticed anything like that before, no lights on dash etc.

They took it out for a drive, to check brakes and no doubt see if the steering was aokay.

The ElectricPowerSteering is an high current consumer, so if the battery voltage is a bit low (as in winter or after garage operation) it would disconnect itself to save power to the master controllers (engine, ABS, Body). GP's are very prone to earthing issues, there is a sticky about that, have a look at it, it's really worth it !!

Hi today I read the codes using multiecuscan.

C1002 - Steering column motor torque position sensors.

Nothing else was reported by ecu. MES shows intermittent light ON but i've never seen it on the dash before. Is there any other tests I can do in MES to help??

Is this a replacement column job?

Like sold in this link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170868364...c4d55364ccc&bu=43387476088&cp=1&sojTags=bu=bu

EDIT:
Just done some more testing of voltage with MES.

BODY Voltage (car on and idling) 13.920v
ENGINE Voltage (car on and idling) 13.8v
STEERING voltage (car on and idling) 13.94 - 14.06v

Does that make any sense? - thought i'd check those to see if there was any issues with power getting to the steering. (grounding issues??)

Many thanks for the advice.
