i have searched and can not find what i am after

after advice my mjet is at 66k and never had belt change far as i no i have done cambelts on z20let,c20ne and few jp4 engines but i been told there are no timing mark on the grande punto 1.9 mjet engine but i am skint and can not get on autodata to check or find a pdf file ...

do i need a special locking tool or not ?? as on my z20 i normaly use mole grips to lock the camshaft many thanks for the help

I believe the Fiat FPT engines use special tools (pins) to lock the camshaft(s) in place when doing the cambelt job. They may even lock the cranckshaft (I think). Google for Fiat cambelt kit and you will probably see loads of tools...

I did mine without the use of locking tools. There are timing marks, but they are not that visible. Best thing you can do is get some Tipp-ex and mark the cam/crank, and the timing/crank cover. just make sure you align the markings when putting on the new belt, and work Anti-clockwise from the crank when fitting the belts over the pulleys.

There is a guide in the Downloads section, Fiat's workshop software called eLearn. The guide is in the procedures part of the program.

Did mine in about 2 hours DIY back in September.
