Hi all, first thread here and long time lurker since buying my GP as a first car!

I've had a dig around regarding LED lights on the GP but every thread seems to be quite a few years old now and all suggest the need for resistors when fitting LEDs so the Canbus doesn't go loopy.

I've seen you can purchase LED Canbus lights nowadays which claim to work without Canbus errors or need for resistors. I am looking to fit LEDs to all of my bulbs which won't effect the car's legal status (i.e not the H5 headlights, H1 foglights) and just wanted to see if anyone else had any experience with these Canbus-ready LED retrofit bulbs?

On a final note, are there any bulbs except the H5 headlights which cannot be swapped for LEDs without breaking road laws - indicators, sidelight, stop lights etc.?

Thanks in advance!

With regards to legality, technically all external lights must be e-marked for use on the road. Retrofit leds (and aftermarket HID xenon's), will not be approved for use on uk roads, but most can get away with being used. Just as long as you are not changing the colour from the bulb that was originally in use (i.e. white sidelight for blue), and the light output is close as possible to the original (in colour and brightness).

For what it's worth, i would not bother changing the rear tail/brake bulbs to LED. Leave them as they are. They often reduce the light output as they are not using the reflector in the lamp housing to generate the desired output, and therefore will likely get you pulled over by the police.

Stay safe!

Thanks for your reply, I wasnt sure about changing the rear lights for that reason you mentioned so will leave them as they are. It was mainly the indicators i was after!
