I am not sure if the 90 power with 6 speed is bad than the 75? because of turbo lag that I have read on car magazine long time ago. Do the 1.3 really need 6 gears? will the 5 gears better for country roads where I live?

I will take test driver both power, if I like the 75 with less turbo lag but no performance will I be able to have a engine remap improve performance same as 90?

I've had a 1.3 90 6 speed for the past 7 years. It's a Dualogic too. I normally change a car every 3 years, so that might tell you something. In 'Eco '' it''s great, changes gear just when I would have done. Sprightly and economical. The only thing wrong is that the heater takes ages to warm up, but that's probably because it's a diesel. Hjghly recommended.

1.3 90 6 speed is laggy in the heavier Astra (same gearbox/engine) in the Mito we had it was fine.

The 1.3 75bhp is a willing engine not massively slower. Not tried it in the Punto though only the Corsa (same engine/box chassis)

Another vote for the 75hp. Less turbo lag, more reliable gearbox, more reliable turbo actually too (fixed vane). However I wouldn't bother remapping - if remapping's what you're into, look at the 1.9.
