Hi Everybody,

Noticed while driving yesterday the little yellow triangle warning sign on my dash, with a Check Stop brake lights display, soon as I got home I tested it and nothing came on, so I popped it out and had a look gave it a quick clean a squirt of WD40 and popped it back in, problem is it works and the warning sign has gone but not all the bulbs work, has anyone stripped the down a replaced the bulbs, if so is there a guide on here on how to do it, I've sourced replacements but am a bit reluctant to pay the £25-£30 that they want, has anyone reconned one from top to bottom.

Cheers people ?????????

I followed the guide for my 06 grande, changed all bulbs and it still dont work, any ideas what to try next please.

Are you getting power to the light unit? If not you may have a problem in the wiring loom usually where it goes into the tailgate.

Very poor design - not fit for purpose. This is what our wiring loom looks like after less than 8 years. Wires broken, bared and corroded and rear wash pipe split. Ho hum

Had the same problem with mine, it happened quicker though as I have s dog so was constantly opening the boot. The split hose filled my back lights with water which it turn caused further electrical faults... Very poor design, and the same thing that happens with the wiring in the front doors

Hi, any tips on how to get the high level brake light out? I've got one bulb gone and it's really on my nerves! Cant believe it needs more force than I've already given it...

Thanks in advance

Jack

I have a 1.3 multijet - but the has the same unit and issue. There is too much going on in such a small space in the tailgate connector in the top LHS - rear clusters, reversing lights, rear wiper wiring and the water piping to the rear wiper all rubbing together day in day out.

Like Jmotor mentioned, the earth wire had worn through with 12 years of opening and closing.

We fixed the issue by soldering and insulating an extra length of wire then "Stuffing" it all back through the crowded rubber protector. It fixed the high level light problem :) - but be careful - we have now broken the rear wiper and need to do the same again
