Deckchair, If you're still around! I have a 2006 Grande Punto 3dr and the drivers door doesn't wake up the interior light. I have removed the door lock and tried to take it apart to see if I could get the switch to work. Wasn't very successful. Do you happen to know which colour wire in the lock plug I can connect to which to check if its the lock or something else that is the problem. I did pull apart the connector on the a pillar and tried some cleaner and put it back together with no joy.

No thanks to Haynes who have the colours wrong for the door light switch! It turns out there are two light blue wires that go to the lock. The thin one is the switch for the interior light. Tracing this back I found the break in the flexi rubber piece between door and frame. Disconnect plug, loosen rubber around wires by cutting a little of the rubber. Then slide rubber tube up wires into door so that you have access to wires. A load of mine had broken insulation so fixed that whilst I was there and then ran a new wire for light switch in lock.
