Hi I'm new to fiat ownaship and the forum

So couple weeks ago I was browsing e bay to see what's on offer when I saw a blue badge 120 sporting for pretty cheap. It looked pretty cool abarth lights, glass roof etc. Finding out the insurance was much lower than my mk4 gti (non turbo) and faster, pushed me to have a look. I expected faults for the price but can get trade parts and fit myself so wasn't put off. So had a look seemed like couple exhaust leaks, one possibly cracked manifold. Tracking bit off. Breather split and smell. Heater matrix air locked/maybe leaking. Switches stuck. Basically lots bits I could fix on the go at very little personal cost but would be a lot through garage. The story behind the sale also seemed legit.

Anyway paid some money and off I went. Drove the car a bit over the weekend 15 miles or so no problems. On the way to work tracking seemed to start pulling a little both ways intermittently. Abs light and asr disable came on. And wait for it....... Engine bottom end started to knock as I pulled into work. Drained out the the unsuitable 0 0 Mobil 1, seen engines make horrible noises with this in. Still knocking after.

I drove another few days on the engine before fitting another one from an abarth 595 over the bank holiday weekend. Yes I had to swap some bits round. Also changed the vl38 for the 36. Now the car runs better but has new issues or ones I hadn't noticed.

Mainly the cooling fan doesn't work. The fan runs with direct power, the connector shows live, fuses look ok, relay clicks for speed 1 and 2 but still doesn't run, when I select maximum it says unavailable on the scanner, engine goes into limp when disconnect coolant sensor. If I join the wires that go to the resistor it will turn but draws so much it will melt a split pin. I'm rubbish with electrics please help?

Thanks in advance

It was the resistor. Had some weird attempted bodgery resulting in weird readings
