Hello chaps and chappettes

My beloved '07 1.2 Grando seems to be having an intermittent electrical issue with the boot window wiper. Every now and then an issue occurs where while I am breaking the back windscreen wiper will very slowly move in the regular pattern across the window. When I noticed this last I toggled the back wiper stalk switch to move it back, and when it finished the open door warning light came on for 5 seconds. After that it continued until I switched my car off and back on.

I bought the car from a dealer last month, and I wasn't aware of this issue being reported. Since owning the car I fitted an auxiliary cable onto the radio, which I fed the wire through down underneath the center console blindly. I don't recall the issue happening before that, nor soon after I had fitted it.

Does anyone have any ideas where to start with this issue? I would like to investigate it myself, but if the issue is involved I would prefer a professional garage to look at it for me, but I would at least like a shot or an idea. The only thing I can think of right now is to check the boot wiring and to remove the AUX for a while, but I'm not sure how much Classic FM I can put up with

Could this possibly be a body computer earthing/negative problem or can bus problem ? As if the system is under load like break lights it could cause the computer to behave erratically? Maybe check the negative connection is clean ?

My apologies for not responding any sooner! I haven't had the time to look at it yet, but I'm still intending to fix this to stop freaking out passengers.

I've run a scan on the port beside the knee for any error codes, but I'm not getting any. I would've thought there would be some codes since the warning lights come on briefly, but apparently everything is okay in the system.

Also, bloody misspelling in the title! :bang: Comforting to know my car likes to have a clean window when I'm smashing it up.

Start in the boot jamb unpop the cable boot and pull it down and inspect the cables
Hoping to take a gander over the weekend, do you know how to take the cover off? I spoke to a colleague who said it should just be clips that can be pried off, so I'll check that out this weekend.

I'm afraid this is a foreign language to me  but I'm gonna hopefully check the systems over the weekend to make sure the previous owner/garage didn't half-donkey something.

Really appreciate the fast responses. It's such a bizarre issue!

Sorry for the double post, but there's been what I think is s big development.

I got a chance to observe the problem when I was parking in my garage - after a heavily raining day i reversed in to find my door light came on, exterior light warning and my windscreen wiper going bonkers! whacked on the handbrake got out and checked. Both break lights and indicators were seemingly fading in and out! which as far as I recall indicates an earthing issue.

Today i got flashed a couple of times on my journey home, both with the EWL on and crazy wiper. Pulled up and this time the left backlight was on incredibly dull. Restarted the engine and it was the same, waited a while and started up again and everything was fine.

The correlation between both occurrence was that it was raining. It does sometimes happen on dry days, but it is much worse when it rains. It makes me think that wherever the problem is located, its being reached by water.

does this help on any suggestions? if it happens again when im outside the car ill record it. Still on the hunt for a garage, but my cars scheduled for a full service in mid June.
