So I am in need of a new alternator now as it has completely gone on my car. I want to avoid all the extra fees garages charge when they buy parts themselves so I'm hoping to buy the alternator myself and get a garage to fit it. Only problem I'm having is I see a lot of different ones with different ampages and don't know which one will work with my car. It's a 1.4L 8v Grande Punto (2006) with no aircon.

This is what I narrowed it down to as it is the same engine code 350A1.000 without aircon but I just wanted to make sure before spending the money on it. Or if there's anywhere cheaper I can get it please let me know. Cheers.

don't spend your money on anything else other than the original part (fiat/denso)

Same one from CP4L here which is a few £ cheaper: http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l...7b397e48ea85e10b469766fe16f15f5f60366c&000012

If you use their CP15LESS code which is on the front of their website it takes the cost to £89

Cheers mate I've got that one.

Why is that? I have purchased this one and will be getting it fitted tomorrow (hopefully). Am I going to have problems?

Most of the times there are problems with non-original alternators on these cars.

I bought a new Denso unit it lasted a week before it failed (Rectifier) Got a different one and 2 yrs later still OK. What was wrong with your old one? Why not get the old one reconditioned? They have a tendency to crack the housing BTW.

I had the alternator from euro car parts fitted (though it wasn't the correct one, I had to swap it for one with air-conditioning). So far the car is running fine and hopefully it'll stay that way. I was going to have my old one reconditioned but didn't want the wait or to spend the extra cash.

I spoke to soon, had battery light come on upon starting the vehicle twice within two days. I don't think Eurocarparts let you return items after they have been fitted either so I've probably just lost out on £150. Perhaps getting my old one reconditioned was the best idea after all...

I told you.......... Return it back get a refund and replace it now with an original part.

Always the same story :/
