HI there,

As above, need to replace the alternator on a 1.4 8v Grande Punto. I can't take it to a garage as the car isn't taxed or insured.

I have a replacement from a scrapyard but no real clue as to how to best replace. Anything I've found has been for the mk2 or the 16v versions.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If your car has air con, get it to a garage. It's a bugger of a job if it has.

No air con on this one. I've heard it's a bugger also :/

Needing to change the alternator belt on my 1.4 8v (no aircon). Looks fairly straight forward or, am I missing something?

For completeness, unless I'm still missing something...... Changed alternator belt on my GP (no aircon) yesterday and took about 20 mins including jacking up and removing the wheel. With bolts slackened to remove tension from the belt the alternator was nearly off so I can't see how changing an alternator on a non A/C model would be too difficult.
