Hello again, so you may have read I've been fixing up a damaged punto I bought. It is now almost finished. Just needs the tracking doing and an mot.
I do have a couple of other issues though that I need help with.

When I got the car it had no stereo fitted but I got a replacement dashboard which came with a blaukpunkt CD player a proper punto one not aftermarket.
Anyway when I finally get round to doing the stereo I realised the wires had been cut, so I assume the previous owner had an aftermarket stereo and bodged it in instead of buying an adapeter.
So the little black block piece that connects to the stereo is still ther but two of the wires have been snipped. I can't get the pins out to reattach the wires to the pins and then insert the connected pins back in to the little black connector box thing. So I just got some speaker cable and connect the snipped wires to the speaker cable and the fed the other end of the speaker cable into the little black connect box so the metal ends of the pins would touch the speaker cable ends, but that did nothing.
Now the wires that aren't connected anymore are the two separate wires that are in the other half of the block, i assume the other half of the block are just speaker wires? Also though in the bunch of wires for the stereo that are wrapped up in the material there are two thicker wires, one red and I think the other is black I can't remember now. But they don't seem to have a place in that block?
I can take pictures but not sure how to upload them from my iPad but tried to describe it as much as I can.
This may be related to this problem though, when the lights are turned on on the car none of the heater controls light up or any other buttons as in the central locking button and what not, I don't know if they are supposed to to be honest as never seen it all working, but the heater controls I know they do as I put the bulbs back in when I replaced the dash. All the buttons work though as do the heater controls.

The other problem I have is the power steering, when I started the car last night everything was fine, i moved the wheels and the steering was fine and light. Then today I tightened up the not on the steering rod end and then got in the car to see how it was to finally drive. I started the car and reversed out of the car parking space and the steering was stiff? I looked on the dash and noticed a steering wheel light was on. So I pulled up turned the car off and back on again and it was fine again and the steering was as it should be. I then drove round the corner to the petrol station and out some petrol in, again it was fine. I turned the car off filled up and then got back in, i started the car and the steering was fine, I got to the exit of the petrol station went to pull off and the power steering stopped working again and the light came back on? I can't imagine it to be down to the nut I tightened on the rod end, what could it be?

I think that is everything, that I need help with other than that, I need to get an engine under tray and the slam bar that's under the bumper has rusted really badly, so going to replace that too. Oh and the plastic trim where the parcel shelf clips in has broken on one side so need to get a replacement. But that's it other than that the car is fine and drives fine.
Any help would be great, also if someone has a Facebook account I could send them the photos and they could upload them for me or someone could tell me how to post them myself using my iPad? Cheers for now, Nathan.

Oh and I do have another problem, the speedo doesn't show the mileage on the lcd, there is hardly anything showing on the screen, it lights up but no numbers, I do have another speedo which I got when I got the replacement dashboard but it is slightly different to mine, the led on it is longer then the lad fitted in mine. The plug in my car which connect to the speedo does connect to the speedo which has the different screen but I never tried it out with the battery connected. Would it work? Also if it did would I be able to get the correct mileage to be displayed on it from my car?
Or if I was to buy the matching speedo for my car, could I change the mileage to be correct from the cake car?
If not could I just buy a matching speedo and take the lcd screen out of it and fit into my current non working speedo?
Or finally could my current speedo be repaired so that the mileage does show?
I think this may affect my mot as it has been an advisory before but the mileage could still be seen but now I cannot see it at all! Thanks again, Nathan.

This is a picture of the dash, the buttons are lit up where the locking and hazard light button are my mistake. I also tried to use the cigarette lighter and that doesn't work either.
You can also see the mileage lcd showing nothing.
I pressed the trip button and it does try and show something but not a lot.

Cup holder won't fit i don't think.

Tidied thread up for you.

New new clocks, looks like display is buggered. I'm not sure if you can use different clocks. I'm pretty sure they have to be the same, with lower mileage so you can adjust the mileage back up to normal.

Lol yeah I know the cupholder won't fit it just came up in the search on eBay it's just that it looked like the male sex organ lol.

As for the clock I've noticed that the display seems to get better when the car gets warmer, it's like my rover the lcd display is known for a similar fault where lines appear on the lcd screen but when the car warms up the lines become lesser and the display is a lot better.
So now I just need to get another speedo, I've looked on eBay and can't seem to find one with a lower mileage than mine or around the same mileage. Do you know of anywhere else I might be able to find a lower mileage speedo? Or even a brand new speedo?

I'm going to take some pictures of the wiring now for the stereo now and I'll upload them next.

So I've uploaded some photos of the stereo wiring and they are on the same link above on the photo bucket account. Could it just be down to a fuse? If so which fuse is it and where is it located? I've looked at another thread on here with fuse numbers and what fuse operates what but the one for sound system says it operates the left rear side light and the front right side light but they are working? Maybe my fuse layout is different? Mine is a 58 plate 1.2 active if that helps?
