Can I ask how old you are by any chance my insurance is barely over a grand right now, I'm still not sure on witch the best option is a sporting or an abarth, I've heard quite a lot about red dot

I'm 18. Red-Dot or TDI North is where I'll be taking mine when I fob this black box off come December or Jan next year. Once I've got it mechanically sound and if not's lost it's plot by that time.

I'm two years older that's quite cheap for your age on insurance isn't it? It's still another two years before I even think about it just saving every penny at the moment

It is. Mates are quite jealous, I have no clue why GP Sportings are cheap on insurance, hell even Panda 100HP's are. If you don't mind me asking, how cheap or expensive is yours?

Even for a 1.4 abarth I think it was £1.102 of i remember correctly but I'm actually jealous you even have a sporting.. I'm not even sure roughly I'll check when I get in from work later

Hiya mate, i've recently had my Sporting T-Jet remapped to around 160-170 bhp, and its incredible!

I say this because i see you were looking at an abarth, however they are silly money in all honesty, and you can easily upgrade the t-jet to abarth specs for a smaller price, so might be worth looking into the t-jet mate.

It is a great car ;)

You do have a good point actually considering the abarth is what 4-6 grand that's been used compared to a 2 grand 1.9 sorting I can see where I'd be wanting to push the sporting to maybe 250bhp benchmark

I'm not sure which car your after? The Abarth is a 1.4 petrol therefore the T-Jet is the closest thing, and remapped can take it close to a standard apartheid with a few extra bits, essesse abarths are faster but very expensive, can get a T-Jet for around 4000 in good nick! Abarths are around 7000-10000 if your lucky! Think of the car you could have if you bought it for 4000 and spent a couple grand on it, would be great! Need any advice on the T-Jet drop me a message, I love the car haha

I want their of both witch ever would be the cheapest option but more power I'm willing to put 2 grand into a 1.9 sporting or even a 1.4 Id be happy with both, I think an 09 plate 1.9 tjet was like 2grand on ebay, I might have to :D

The 1.9 is an mjet which is a diesel mate, 130bhp standard but obviously weighs more. Abarths and T-Jets are petrol :)

I still got awhile to think about it yet just wanted to start saving now so I can just have it their and ready for when I want it, how much was your remap?

"Here we go 1.9 M-Jet vs 1.4 T-jet". 1.9 offers the same thrills, but you still get to keep that economy. TORQUE by the spades! Only marginally slower to 60mph than the T-jet. But a higher top speed. More understate and Unassuming. Stronger engine and less fragile than the 1.4. You're asking a lot of a 1.4 to push 250hp. Sounds like a tank. Might be interesting if you could put the 16V head off the Bravo 1.9, Alfa 159 or Astra SRi 150 on the 8v block (Is this possible?)

However. There a more off the shelf performance upgrades for the T-jet. If you got all the abarth bodykit, not many people would know the difference between a T-jet and the abarth. Still quite a lot of torque. Has a more fruity/sporty exhaust note. Blisteringly fast for what you get. Plus you get all them choo choo noises. Fast acceleration.

I'm guessing that the people you work with are the sort of boring idiots that drive fords?

I'm not a boring idiot....

I wasn't comparing the two? I was just wanting to make sure which car he had his eyes set on to give more info on it?

I own a T-Jet and they are nice cars, however i wouldn't mind an M-Jet if i ever swapped cars...

Yeah course mate, look around a lot before! My remap was £170 but i knew the person who did it mate!

I said about the guy called dlr getting around that with his 1.4? Thinking more towards the t-jet now you're saying this, might not even have to save up much after selling mine down the line, if asking for 250 from the 1.4 I've seen quite a lot hit the 200 mark quite nicely
