Hi all - am a newbie to this forum & first time Fiat owner. Not sure yet if this is a good thing or not!
Couple of issues with a 07 GP 1.4 8v. There's a fair bit of "jerkiness" when you take foot off gas (of course, I didn't notice this on test drive!) - I'm thinking gearbox mount? What is a ballpark price to replace this?
Also - a slight water leak in the boot area - seems to be in the bottom right-hand corner. Any ideas, pls?
And - am thinking of fitting new battery. Will this cause any probs with immobiliser, ECU etc? I have the radio code.
Nice looking car & quite fun to drive. Also got it very cheap, so don't mind spending a few quid!
Thanks!

Hi, I have the same car like you and mine make that jerkiness too... The last owner had replaced the engine mount as I request to him because the car has request to change, the jerkiness was so pronounced that was a need, so now it s fine but still i feel some bumps in low gears. Must check the gearbox mount. The batery if its ok you donvt need to replace, no effect with ecu etc if you want it. And with water i did not seen every moisture in the car...

Check mounts first yes (3 in total)

Water in the boot is a common issue iirc... Search here in the forum I think someone fixed this problem.

About the battery, no just replace it.

Thanks for the replies! I had the gearbox mount replaced (fairly cheap job) and it's a lot better, though still a bit jiggly. Also had the alternator belt replaced as it was slipping a bit, and was almost out of adjustment. New belt still slipping!
Am gradually tracking down the water leak...

Welcome to the GP forum mate. Best place to be when you have issues with your punto :slayer:

When I bought my grande punto I had leaking in the boot too. Where abouts is it leaking and how much water is coming through? A common issue is that the washer hose to the boot splits through age and the constant opening and closing of the boot, and the water trickles down the inside and pools in the boot. Try running the rear washer for a good 10 seconds and see if the leaks got worse.

Thanks, will check the hose. It gets wet in the rear right hand corner, but even after heavy rain it's not too bad, sometimes none at all. I've put some newspaper in this area to try & check for wet spots after rain, but it's staying dry at the moment.
Latest prob is cold starting - starts ok, then dies. I had it diagnosed, which showed a temp switch fault. New temp switch fitted, to no effect! Tried cleaning MAP sensor, also to no effect, so am probably going to fit a new one...
