Just had a new gearbox put in my Grande 1.9 sporting ...
However now the reverse switch ( the plastic lifter in the gearstick ) now does nothing and you can always accidentally engage reverse gear ....
Does anybody know what is meant to move when the tab is lifted as in assuming it's spring loaded which is my issue !
Thanks in advance

Yes it can be lifted however makes no difference it's as if it is always lifted making first gear a real pig to engage
Thanks

I know this isn't related however the master cylinder was done at the same time and the Esp light is constantly on and is unavailable can you just confirm this is why it would be on ?
Thanks in advance

Probably the garage you replaced the gearbox damaged the selector.

There is a little plastic tab under the boot that when it's not lifted it prevents reverse from engaging.

You can easily remove the boot and see what's going on.
But you should really go back to the shop if it was fine before.

Now about the ESP light, do you have any message on the lcd like ''hill holder not available'' or abs ?

Hi thanks for your reply.

Yeah I know a fair bit being a Hgv technician and can assure you the box selects all gears perfectly.
The tab is under the boot and hits the side however will still engage reverse this has put me towards the cable being to tight or loose dependant on the movement allowing the selector on the box to already be towards this direction ...
To your knowledge are there any adjustment on these cables I can see a spring like clip on the cable ...

Regarding the Esp it has the light on and says Hill holder unavailable and Esp disabled on the Lcd and says to refer to handbook unfortunately I don't have mine !!
The clutch I fitted myself before having the box put in is also defective and is to weak looking for a uprated flywheel and clutch to be able to handle remapped power any suggestions ?
Thanks help is appreciated

ah...now I got it.

Yes check the attachment how to adjust it.

Don't about handbook... it's useless :p

Do you have these errors right after startup or after you start moving ?

I'll have to give that cable adjustment a go tomorrow hopefully should be straight forward enough !!

The ESp light stays on and brings up the warnings from the moment the ignition is switched on ...

Just to clarify, NO ABS error , only ESP+Hill Holder not available warning right?

Can you check if the clutch switch is working?

Also check brake switch (this is easy just see if the stop lights are working)

Yes just the Esp error no Abs light at all ....
I'll check the Brake light switch and see if the stop lights are working where abouts is the clutch switch located at a guess I'd say near the pedal/ on the master cylinder ...
Thanks for your reply

I managed to adjust the gear linkage cables today moved one slot now the gear selection is back to normal and the throw is correct that diagram really helped ...

Checked the brake light switch and the brake lights are working so I'm assuming the latter and it's the clutch switch hasn't been put in and calibrated proberly ...
What do I need to remove to be able to get to that red clip on the clutch pedal ?
Thanks in advance

Nice!

You don't have to remove anything it's just very hard to put your hands. I hurt my back when I did that. (seriously... lol)

Alright nice I'll give it a go and see if I can put this light to my bed myself without need diagnostics !
I'll try it one night this week and let you know on the progress !!
Got to put a new uprated clutch in my car I want to get it remapped soon and some new wheels I'll show you the finished product when it's done ?
Thanks for all of you help it has been much appreciated

I had a quick look around the pedals tonight I could see the brake light switch and it was all plugged in as suspected as the lights work !
As much as I stuck my head in though I couldn't make out any switch for the clutch pedal ?
How far up the clutch pedal is it I looked right up and could make out a little white knob with what look liked a red clip a bit like what was in your photo is this what I'm looking for as its in a right awkward place !! ?

I can't emphasis enough I physically can't get my head in there with my arms !! Haha
There's a little black cover / section with torx screws in that if I remove will create more room unfourtantely don't have any torx sockets with me haha !!
Am I right in thinking I need to pull the red tab out then let the clutch pedal press against it which will calibrate its own position ??

Yes you got it right :) then push the red part only all the way in to secure the switch and you're done.

Right once I can get the cover of when I return from training on Friday I'll give it a go !!
Just to clarify I pull the red locking tab for the wiring right out then pull the actual arm of the position switch out let the clutch pedal back up pressing in the switches end re press in red tab done and the Esp should work once again ...

I really appreciate how much you must have struggled I'm very slim myself and struggled to get in unfourtantely I do t have the tools to remove that cover to grand access ?
