Hi all

My first post here... I've been peeking for a few years, first without a username, since with.
I both love and partly hate this forum... Love because ot the large amount of info regarding different cars, and hate because of all the diseasses one can make up that your car is getting or might get...

I'm from denmark, born 73' so not that young anymore but still feel young
:)

Currently we have a Punto Evo 2011, 1.4 dynamic with 70K km, and a Grande Punto 2010 1.4 t-jet with 60K km.
(Evo is my wifes, and the GP is mine)

My questions/reflextions are regarding the diffences between those two cars.
They are build on the same platform I guess, but are totally different to drive.

The gearing in the Evo is very low, and in 5th on motorways you tend to actually look if it's actually is in 5th. But the feel of the gearing is good, there is no slack, and its very tight.

On the GP, the gearing is fine, but has a more sloppy feel, but is way better on motorways. Sometimes It doesn't go that well into Reverse.

- Could it be lacking gear oil, or is it just like that, can there be made alterations to the gearing that can change this?

The GP doesn't have the blinking assist, as the Evo does which is bad.

Glove box on the Evo sucks, is a little better in the GP.

Cupholders, ohh my god, one should think things are being testet before put into production - but that is evidently NOT the case for the GP, but the Evo isn't that much better.

Thats it for now, I probably have left stuff out I been wondering about, so I'll edit the post later.

Cheers for now

Hi again

No replies, well I'll do one myself then..

Well I'm trying to install an amp. from my old car.
Same Radio from old car, Pioneer 5600
2 channel Sony amp. 250 watt.
Worked fine in my Panda.
When installing in my t-jet there is this terrible static noise, which comes and goes, and differs... This is when motor not running, with motor running i can hear it much more.

The ground return cable I have mounted screwing it into the panel on the left side of the trunk where the back fuse box is.

Ground and power cables are very thick.

Can I measure how good the ground return is with a multimeter?

- I have tried to connect a cable directly to the negative pole on the battery, it wasn't a very thick cable but there was no difference at all.
- Tried with another amp.

I'm running out of ideas, and patience...

I think it might be the ground or perhaps my battery is bad?

Yeah the gear ratios between these two gearboxes are very different. T-Jet has longer gears while evo keep them short to fit well with the small engine.

About the feeling it's true. If you don't want to grind or force reverse, clutch in - count 2/3 seconds - then engage reverse. Or engage any other gear before to eliminate this clutch in delay. It's totally normal.

If you are about to change gearbox oil, search for redline ones, you will feel the difference.

Now about the amp problem, I don't know much about amps but,

Never ground anything directly to the battery (well it's ok for a test).
Change the route of the cables maybe?
You can switch batteries with the EVO for a start.

Hi

I must be the radio, or the lines out that are causing the trouble, just tried another radio in the car with no problems, will have to send it back to the store and have them fix it.

Another thing.. I just had the car remapped.

It turnes out it had 141 hp and 220 nm standart, but aften the mapping 151 hp and 254 nm.

the difference is awesome :)

Cheers
