Hi All,

I'll be due new tyres in the next month or two so going to change track rod ends, and lower arms. Slight knock from OS balljoint, may as well do NS at same time and TRE's are an easy job when its in bits and makes sense to do before alignment which I'll get when I fit tyres. Car is 06 reg with 59,000 on it and I think all parts are original so probably about time.

Anyone know what size, thread & grade the bolts holding the arms to the subframe are and what size the ball joint pinch bolts are? From past experience, makes sense to have spares before I start.

Thanks in advance

Ben

Can't remember the exact sizes but the lower control arm is a female torx socket - I believe E14 and *I think* the pinch bolt is 10 or 12mm standard hex bolt.

You shouldn't need spares, they're pretty chunky bolts, especially the control arm bolt, so shouldn't shear etc.

Just use plenty of spray and give them a few hard taps with a hammer to free the rust a bit.

A long breaker bar is handy for the control arm bolt too.

Thanks Jacob,

Having had a nightmare with these things on a Hilux & Focus (mainly rust issues) I'm maybe a little paranoid. Will get a handful of M10 & M12 bolts for pinch bolts and hope for the best with the others!

Cheers

Ben
