Has anyone on here come across this before, please? It's a '56 plated 1.2 GP with the standard Blaupunkt head unit. (No Bluetooth). Today, the radio powers up but won't find any stations. It won't play an aux input either, and it won't take a CD. There is backround hiss coming from the speakers, but that's all. All the buttons appear to operate normally, as well as the display lighting up, so there's clearly power to the unit.

I've pulled it out and looked at the fuse on the back of it (which is fine).

Steering controls work too - just no music!

OK, I've had it to bits and I can't see any internal fuses, so it looks like I'm in the market for another one! Does anybody know:

(a) whether these things need a code? I've had this one out of the car for half an hour or so, and taken the lid off, then put it back together and it didn't ask for one.

(b) looking on eBay and the like, it seems that both Grundig and Blaupunkt supplied radios for the same car. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable?

It's an early 2007 (56 plate) 1.2 Active 8V.

A factory fitted unit doesn't require code since it's stored in the ECU.

But if you install an other one you need its code to activate it (or pair it with the ecu anyway)

Thanks. Is that a difficult job? Can it be done as a DIY proposition, or does it need to go to a stealer?

Ta. It's not so much the physical removal and replacement of the head unit, but re-coding the new one to the ECU. Is that possible as a DIY job?

No. I fitted an Aux input to it a few months ago, but it has been working fine since then. That said, I haven't checked that all 4 speakers ARE making background noise. I know I have some broken wires where the driver's door hing is though, but didn't think one of those was the speaker cable. Would that make the head unit refuse to take a CD though? (At present, you can just shove the CD as far as you like but it makes no attempt to pull it into the slot).

OK, new question on the same topic. I see that there are two identical-looking radios for the GP, one made by Blaupunkt and the other by Grundig. They LOOK identical (but obviously have different part numbers). Would a Grundig one work in a car originally fitted with a Blaupunkt one? (or vice versa).
