I have an 06 punto 1.2
I have no clue about cars (at all) so I've been getting very frustrated trying to read other peoples threads and having no clue at all what they're talking about mostly.
seems like nobody else has an 06 punto, my car has no blue and me and I can't find the usb that is in everyone else's glove box. ( I pulled off the plastic cover thing inside but I still dont see a usb port) I want to be able to play music on my phone, and have the sound come out the car speakers, that's it. I've seen discussions about 2 types of cables for this, one has a blue top and the other is yellow.
Now remember I seem to be the only person with an 06 punto. Could somebody just please tell me what to do?
I'm not wanting to spend much. The cables I speak of are both under 10 pound.

06 reg punto
blaupunkt stock radio
"aux" displays up if I press CD twice
not looking for fancy Bluetooth
litterally all I want is to have a cable come out my radio to plug in my HTC phone and play music, I don't own any Apple products.

Any answers would be very very welcome. I'm a complete noob with this so please talk to me as if I'm a kid. I'm not stupid, I just haven't learnt anything about car electrics my whole life :)

P.s I tried to put in a few pictures to help with answers. Idk where they will end up

You probably need to talk to one of the companies who supply the cables but I susoect you will need the yellow coloured one as that is the one I used for my daughters car - 1.2 Grande Punto 2008 model without blue and me - that cable then connects to the back of the stereo but you MUST make sure you connect it the right way or it will never work. I have a couple of emails from a good supplier that explains it better. I will try and dig them out. Cable then routes under the dashboard and plugs into the headphone socket of any phone and away you go.

This was the email address I used but it was a while back.

Ebay item 350698470682 – basic AUX adapter, with 3.5mm jack connection

Ebay item 230914987825 – better quality AUX adapter, with 3.5mm jack connection (preferred option for non- Apple MP3 players, with 3.5mm jack connections)

Ebay item 230916679902 – Ipod / Iphone specific AUX audio adapter (preferred option for Apple Ipod / Iphone audio only connection – has performance benefits vs. 3.5mm jack connection)

Ebay item 230918173304 - Ipod / Iphone specific AUX audio + charging adapter (preferred option for Apple Ipod / Iphone audio + charging connection – same audio performance benefits + Ipod / Iphone charging)

The Ipod / Iphone specific models are NOT compatible with the new Iphone 5 or Ipod models with the newest smaller dock connection sockets, otherwise, all Ipod models (except very early 1G/2G) and all Iphone models.

The last 3 items are also available with direct order discount (-5%), payable via a PayPal invoice on request – with all other terms/conditions/returns etc. identical to those shown on Ebay.

Options given to me but you need to tell him what head unit and what the label at the back says - those pictures should do the job.

It's the yellow one. I used one in my 06 before I changed the head unit out. You can have it of you want? Pm me your address and I'll post it. But as has been mentioned before it needs to be connected to the back of the radio properly to work.

Thanks so much everyone. The Waugh I've sent you a PM with my address. Basically my main problem was that people said the blue cable wouldn't work on models 07 and above, and that yellow ones wouldn't work on models below 07. But I could never get a solid answer.

If it helps at all, I have a 2008 punto and I use the yellow cable (y)

EDIT: And I think its more to do with the stereo and less the year.

Models with blue and me have a slightly different stereo and all models with pretty much 58 plates onwards should all have blue and me.

Short answer is, if you press the CD button twice and it shows aux then you need the blue cable, if you press it twice and it shows media player then you need the yellow cable

You can actually use either cables (blue or yellow) it doesnt really matter. I got very confused with which cable to buy, some people said yellow, some blue. I ended up buying a blue one but that didnt work. Did a bit of research and it turns out that if your cable isnt right all you need to do is cut off the little clip and rails on the side of the plug, flip it over and plug it in on the other side of the radio unit, imagine it as a mirror image. Aux works fine now using a blue cable when I should be using a yellow one. Literally the only difference between the two cables is that one has the prong clips one side and the other cable has them on the other side. Chop them off so that they are flat and they will fit either side of the radio. Simple fix if you dont want to faff around trying to send back a cable.:slayer:

Something I use instead of an AUX cable is a FM transmitter which charges my phone and lets me play my music.

Bought mine on Amazon from Belkin

Hi!

Sorry to drag this thread up again, what if I press the CD button twice and get no change?

I'm in a '56 grande punto sporting that has blue and me in it.

Many thanks

Jack
