Hi everyone, went to take my wheels off the other day to change discs and pads and the key just stripped inside on the first locking wheel nut, the normal ones came off fine (albeit a little tight).

I happen to have a new spare set in the car since I bought it for some reason, so just need to remove the current ones and swap them. Can anyone advise the best/cheapest way to remove them? I can buy the key on eBay for £25 but worried they may just strip that as well?

Thanks in advance,
Rob.

Just double checking, no one has any suggestions? As I need to get this sorted by the weekend so will order a key tomorrow if no one here has any better ideas?
Rob.

You could try the slightly smaller socket technique, hammering the socket on to the locking nuts. failing that a nut remover set. You can purchase from local motor factor or seen them on flea bay.

Damnit, I thought I replied to this. Yes, either hammer on a smaller socket or get someone to weld a nut onto the end. Chances are if you buy another key it'll also break. My suspicion is that they were done up with a hydraulic gun far too tight.

Hi and thanks for your replies. Unfortunately I don't think the socket trick is an option as the locking nuts have a sleeve around the edge which spins, most locking wheel nut removers have been the same principle so not sure if they'll work either. I think I'm going to take it back to the place that did the MOT and see what they suggest as they would have put them on too tight in the first place. Thanks!
