Ive officially caught the modding bug and the next thing i want to do is lower my sporting.
Can any one recommend a set of coilovers for my tjet.
Also how hard is it to change these on your own? Ive changed springs on my old astra before and was hoping it was easier then that.

It's a similar job. Unless you have your heart set on coilovers I'd go for a decent set of lowering springs and shocks, the ride quality on coilovers is abysmal.

I've not got my heart set on coilovers i just wanted the option to lower it more or raise it more if needed. Why is the ride so bad on coilovers? Called me stupid but i thought coilovers were pretty much the same?

Ride quality depends on the coilovers you've got & quality, what dampening setup they've got and how low you go. Ultimately they probably won't be as comfortable as stock, but such is when you're trading comfort for looks and performance.

I'm getting a set myself at the end of this year. (y)

I guess they can be OK if you go for a good brand, if you do go that route give some thought to protecting the adjuster threads - we had a VW Transporter in yesterday that had a set fitted 6 months ago and they were seized solid. Grease isn't the answer because all the crud sticks to it and makes matters worse.

I've got budged Jom coilovers and they have being perfect to date, ride is good aswell. Good quality coilovers, can't fault them. Personally I don't think there's that much difference between budget coilovers and some more expensive ones. Yeah the ride might be better etc but I can honestly say these joms have being brilliant! Don't go springs at all, get the coilover package.

Yeah thinking I'm getting coilovers on the next payday. Don't want to pay for springs and them not drop low enough and then have to change for a bigger drop or coilovers.

I can't find any springs that drop low enough. Then if you do find some that drop low enough then the dampers won't be correct for the springs. Get coilovers and I can recommend Jom's which are budget ones, or you could get some higher priced ones it depends on your budget.

My coilovers were delivered today, 1 thing that's worrying me is on the box it said Opel corsa, I know they have probably used a different box but do these look right?

Ahh ok, I was gutted they'd sent the wrong ones haha.
Are they pretty simple to fit/set up? And any tips for me would be great.

They are the ones and not sure if there is a guide mate. Search the forum for a guide and try typing in on google maybe installing coilovers grande punto. Sure someone's done a guide on it

Nope they are Defo the right ones so don't worry. Right well start with back they are easier. Wheels off, undo damper at bottom, drop axle down (push it down with foot), pull spring out, pull back arch lining (need to take some screws out of it I think) or something like that, undo top mount of damper from car and then take rear damper top mount off original damper and put on new ones. Attach adjuster cups at the top, keep the rubber inserts from the old rear springs, put the bottom rubber seat on the rear spring and top of spring sits around the cup. Adjuster cups and held in with bolts you can get to by pulling back wheel arch, use jack to jack rear axle back up so bottom damper holes line up. Can't remember where I put axle stands but don't put them somewhere that it won't let rear axle drop fully down to get spring out. Right so for the fronts I recommend buying spring compressors from eBay they are like £10. This is because you have to take the top mount off the original spring to put on joms. So front struts, take wheel off, undo relevant bolts at bottom that meets hub/front axle (whatever it's name is), whenever undoing bolts of advise use lube and lots of leverage( long bar) if you don't have access the impact wrench. So you've removed bolts from hub or whatever, Pop bonnet, undo screws from scuttle panel (plastic bit) to access top mount. You need spanner (not socket) because you have to put an Allen key in the middle, undo top mount and strut should come out, you will have to remove brake line and/or sensor from original strut (it's held on with a rubber mount of some sort. Anyway you have strut out now, here comes the most difficult bit. So it's quite unsafe to do it the way I did it, which was slacken top mount of old strut off to as much as I dare and kick the top mount round until it shoots off and spring flies off over my fence into next door! A lot easier to compress springs using spring compressors and take top mount off. Put old top mount on new joms. Attach top mount to car first by inserting strut up into scuttle panel bit and secure there, attach at bottom, it's worth nothing that don't just put bolts in and tighten up. You can alter camber on front by pulling hub upwards and tightening up, or vice versa pulling it down for opposite way camber. Just pull it up and push it down and roughly find middle and tighten bolts up there at bottom, ensuring all lines/sensor cables or whatever are secure. Make sure everything's tigtjened up. Use lots of grease, this means then if you ever need to change anything/take it off then it's lots easier. Think I forgot about undoing drop links on front which required socket and spanner behind it I think. You'll see how to undo that (can't quite remember how). Don't think I've missed anything. Hope that helps. If you have any questions then please ask me and ill try help. Set adjusters to middle front and back then to adjust just jack car up and wind threads up or down.

Thanks for that, I ended up getting a mate to do them in the end, as reading all that made it sound really difficult and tbh I didn't have the time.
I've had them on a few days now and the front has settled nicely but the back hasn't moved much. I went to lower it a bit more and it's not having it, it's really stiff and won't screw down any more. Have you had any problems like that with yours?
