Hi

Got a Grande Punto 1.2 Active 8v making a super annoying tapping sound in the drivers side engine bay when idling :bang:. When I step on the clutch it stops and when moving it stops. However if I rev it when stationary it gets worse.

I have topped up the oil after a bit of research to no avail. Am thinking of changing the oil as it is really dark and it was last changed in October last year.

Any other possibilities of what might cause the tapping noise since everything else runs like clockwork. No warning lights other than the light warning which was a burnt out park light I changed a few days ago.

Dark oil in petrol isn't the best (dark usually in diesel). Would get that changed. My gp made a tapping noise when i first bought it (Lower revs when moving and idle like yours. Mine a semi auto). If you open up the bonnet and left of the airbox you'll see breather pipe (small one). Make sure this isn't loose as they are known to come loose. That's what the tapping was on mine. Cable tied it to the bracket and no issues since

Hi guys turned out my clutch release bearing was gone thats why the noise disappeared every time I stepped on the clutch. Cost £105 for OG clutch and £80 labour at Indie.

Also knocking sound from steering turned out to be knackered shock top mounts and broken drop link.
