Hi all
I am desperate for some help on this and at my wits end ! Haven't been able to drive my punto for 4 months because since the battery died in January something weird has happened.
We replaced the battery and randomly at night it sounds as if the horn is going off constantly - it's so loud it literally wakes up the neighbours and I was heavily pregnant at the time it started having to go out at 3 in the morning to sort it !
Anyway the only way it stops is by disconnecting the battery or turning the key in the ignition - obviously I went for disconnecting the battery because I couldn't leave the car running all night. It's done it numerous times so I've just given up trying to drive it and left it disconnected .
I've had various mechanics out who just tell me there is no fault because it doesn't happen at the time they reconnect the battery! Leave it a few hours and what do you know it happens throughout the night.
The car does not have a factory fitted or aftermarket alarm. I was advised by previous mechanic it just has an immobiliser.
He advised that it could be that the software has kind of reset itself from the battery change and disconnecting the battery could be resetting it all the time ...
Has anyone ever heard of this fault? Any ideas what I can do to sort it ? I am reluctant to pay fiat £70 per hour to look at it if they can't find the fault I've only had the car 6 months and not been able to drive it for 4 and I'm just wishing someone has heard of this fault before and can shed some light for me !!
Thank you
