I've had my GP for 3 months and up until a couple of weeks ago the oil level was fine. When it was time to top it up I wasn't exactly sure what type of oil was already in it. So I rung local car shop and they said 10w40 which I already had left over from my last older punto. Although in the book of new car it said 5w40. Since I have used up the rest of the 10w40, I have noticed that it is all gone in a couple of weeks, so which oil is the best to use?? By the way my grande punto active is a 1.2l 06 plate. Thank you

Check the breather pipes common fault causing oil consumption I put the new castrol 5 40 in but it's a bit pricey 36 for 4 litres
