How long do they last from brand new?? Plus my engine management light has just come on aswell, only had it 4 days lol

As long as you regularly change the oil (I'd recommend no more than 10k-12k miles between changes, ignore the 18k in handbook), the timing change shouldn't be an issue. Is the EML only coming on under certain conditions?

It usually throws a fault code for the cam sensor, when the chain stretches it puts the crank & cam sensors out of sync.
