I have a 2008 grande punto 1.2. The lights will not turn off unless the ignition is switched off. I have changed the relay and disconnected the lights and wiper wires but it still does not switch off even after 5 minutes. Checked found error code B1045. Has anyone had this problem need help please.

I have tried to find out what error code B1045 means but cannot find it listed, any help please.

Light led (green one) on the dash is on ?
It could be the stalker.

(multiecuscan can tell you what b1045 means but you need yellow adapter to make a connection with body computer)

Thanks for your help, yes the light led on the dash is on. It has had a scan for faults on the body computer which showed up B1045 but said unknown, this was done by a friend who has a vehicle error code diagnostic equipment laptop. He said that it looks like a fiat dealer only job. You mention the stalker but why would the lights stay on when the light/wiper unit has been disconnected even after 5 minutes. Can they?

Lol stalker ;-)

First check the engine bay fuse box and plugs are dry

Thanks for your help, I have checked out the fuse bay and plugs as I had read before somewhere that has been a problem in the past. They all appear clean and dry.

Yes it can. Body computer works the opposite way (open circuit = lights on)

Am I understanding this correctly that if the fault is the light stalk even if its disconnected they will stay on until a new light stalk is fitted and turns them off? Very much appreciate your help as it has been doing my head in. Thanks

Yes exactly.
IF the problem is there of course and not somewhere else from the stalk unit to the body co.

If you (or your friend) have multiecuscan you can make a test from the >actuators menu to make sure everything else is fine.

Thankyou for all your help, the light/wiper stalk has now been replaced and the lights now turn on and off. I ordered a new one from the local fiat dealer and they didn't have one. They had to get one from Italy. £132.50 what can I say except all works ok, now to get my MOT arranged.
