Hi,

Looking to finally get my t-jet mapped, and heard good things about Tune4Performance, and its relatively local to me.

However I can't seem to get a hold of them by email or by phone, do they still exist? Swear I've seen some dyno graphs on here from recently!

Do they do custom remaps and do they have a rolling road?

Any info greatly appreciated.

Rich

yes

try this number 01923 771222 and say you are trying to get hold of tony, they will say if he is away or anything, they share workshop

Cheers. Will give that a go tomorrow!

Also, heard that Tony is good with T-jets. What is your experience?

Also just as a ball park - I have a custom BMC CDA kit and a super sprint cat back (no mid silencer) on my T-jet - what sort of HP/Torque do you think I could be seeing? As an engineer I know that really its all about torque ;)

He is good with everything. as for gains i wouldn't like to guess its best to talk to the man himself.
Called them this morning, turns out he is on holiday until the 16th - no problem in waiting, but thanks for your help in actually getting through to them.

The guy did say on the phone when I said 'remap for a fiat pinto t-jet', that will be a challenge for him but you'll need to talk to him yourself... what does that mean!? Lol

I thought these cars were supposed to be tried and tested in ECU mapping! ;)

Tony does appear the guy to go too. However I have my doubts from two people on here Sweex & Rob93 having problems with their maps.

Things like nasty spikes in the torque band, over fueling and over boosting dangeously.

I personally won't be going to him.
It took Luke best part of £500 and allot of Moaning to get tony to fix the poor map that he had put on his car. I believe it runs ok now though.
Robs is still overbooking stupidly high in 5th.

Just poor service of his 'custom maps'
Things can occasionally go wrong I can apricate that. Just funny that these cars where both originally mapped on the same day. And the term copied the map and tweeted to suit the engine was used.

Again. This is just my opinion and some people swear by Tony's good work.

Reuuk thanks for your input on my thread.

He is one of the only custom mappers I have heard about on fiat forum, is there anyone else who is decent?

If you say they were having it on the same day, could it have just been an 'off' day? I am bit hesitant to go to him now but I have also heard good things about him, like you said.

I don't want the engine to be working too hard and I don't want flats spots all over the rev range, and I certainly don't want any problems further down the line!

Sorry and also what did you mean by; 'And the term copied the map and tweeted to suit the engine was used.'

Reuuk my car was still not running perfectly but better after he finally fixed it.
Its still running a bit too rich really. I need to get it tuned down now anyway.

He meant, he did the map on my car then used the same map for the other lad but just tweaked it to suit.

An update to everyone on this thread:

I went yesterday to Tune4Peformance to see Tony and get it RR remapped. Job well done...

He said as mine was a gen II and with the cat-back and nice cold air induction it ran nicely. Initially we got HP nearing 170, and this was only at 0.8-0.9 bar boost pressure (safe) but it had spikes in the torque/HP range so to even the power curve and distribution out he said you will lose a bit of HP.

When I left it was mapped to 162bhp, and torque sat at a whopping 291nm (215lbft)

As I thought previously, the car was already running well hot of what it is claimed to be: 145hp and 240nm torque. However with the remap not only is it more powerful, it is more driveable and has smooth torque and HP curves. Very happy - couldn't credit Tony enough to be honest!

However ... there is a downside ... I was on my way back from the remap and I was rear-ended by an 85 year old man, into another car in front. Heavy cosmetic repair work needs to be done to the front and rear bumpers although found after taking it to a body shop it is purely cosmetic damage (phew) and the old man is paying for the damage he did.

Will post photos and make a feed the work I have done (including remap graphs) on my t-jet after it is back on the road after its surgery lol.

Cheers, Rich.

dont trust him to pay after repair get money up front, personally I'd always go through insurance when its someone else's fault

My mum knows the guy and I have all his details. It is all good.

Another update on my car following the remap and rear-ending.

One piece of good news:

Car back and looking very shiny - its red and was faded, had all the extra paintwork done - very happy.

Bad news:

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but the high torque of the remap has caused my clutch to start slipping fairly heavily under any kind of acceleration beyond about 25% open throttle in 3rd, 4th and 5th.

I took it to my local mechanic who has worked on performance cars for 30 years and he recommended upgrading to a dual friction clutch, which is still road-driveable but will handle the extra power / torque. He said it was good that I took it to him, as if i'd left it, the flywheel could have been damaged then I'd have to replace that too. Ordered parts from CG motorsports (clutch-specialists.co.uk) and its going in to the garage next week. After that, minus EBC brake upgrade and new tyres, it will be finished! (I hope). Annoying as its costing me yet more money, but is necessary.

Has anyone else had this problem?

its often more to do with the condition of clutch and the way its driven than the remap its self. but as with and performance mod parts will wear quicker, oil should be changed more often too

Be that as it may, I can't open the throttle at all without the clutch slipping, so it needs changing. Comparatively it isn't that expensive, only that I have to get someone else to install for me as I can't do the job myself. I will ask them to check the gearbox whilst its out too. I do have a fairly heavy foot at 80% of my driving is back roads so I use the clutch a lot.

I also used the same place, Tony certainly knows what he's doing. My T-Jet was bog standard with a laughable VL37 Turbo. He managed to squeeze out 168.1bhp and 242nm (178.7ft-lb) of Torque.
