Hi all,

I have a Diesel 1.3 Multi jet and the engine coolant is below the minimum level,

my question is what do I need to get to top it up - Paraflu? Paraflu up?

And, do I need to empty what's in there, or just top it up?

Any help appreciated

You need to top it up with what is already in.

DO NOT MIX - coolant brands, types etc.

Fiat uses Paraflu UP.
Of course coolant loss is the real problem here.

Thanks,

it's a 56 plate and it hasn't been serviced for a while, is there natural evaporation?

Do I need deionised water for the paraflu up? or is that pre-mixed.

Just top it up with deionised water won't do any harm

What ever colour of coolant is in the bottle (usually blue or red) top it up with some coolant of the same colour if you want to add coolant to the mix, just never mix blue with red or red with blue.

Also you don't have to use paraflu most fiat dealers don't even stock it

But what is important is you get it serviced as these engines do not like old oil and early timing chain failure is likely to result from poor infrequent servicing

If it's only a small amount of top up, then tap water will suffice.
Any more than half a pint though and i'd probably top it up with a 50/50 mix of the correct coolant.

Thanks guys, think I will book it in for a service too
