Hi to everyone!
let me explain the purpose of the title.
I own a 1.4 16v 95 hp grande punto sporting MY2007. Recently i had to search for a new gearbox since my old and not trusted one refused to go into third under any circumstances.
my problem now.
I found a new gearbox which found out at the refitting that was a bit different.
Its code was 55182874 which i googled and got results of a lancia ypsilon 1.2 model or similar.
My mechanic told me that we should put i together for the time beinghang and i should also look for a replacement. For now it runs smoothly.
And now gentlemen my questions!
-Does anybode know in which car was this gearbox installed?
-Should i change it for a GP sporting gearbox OR shouldnt i bother since it seems ok?
-Should i hang the man who sold it :slayer: ?
I await for your responce!!
i am at a loss . Thank you

You answered the first question yourself. On the second question, I'd imagine that being a 1.2 the gear ratios are lower so you'll get slightly faster acceleration at the expense of higher rpms at a cruise and slightly more fule burnt. Also, didn't your car originally have a six speed? I presume the new box is a five speed? If so, the gear ratios will be more widely spaced which will slow acceleration slightly.

i only found a picture of a gearbox in the internet referring to the exact number. maybe other models had the same too, and if anyone in the forum had any idea about the certain code - model i could find the gear ratios.
That is what im trying to find out my friend:)
if it is similar to the GP's ratios i think there wouldnt be any big deal.
my GP has a 6 speed gearbox as the one installed.
To be honest im unaware of the models equipped with a six gear box.

anyone guys? for the time being it seems to run ok. should i start lookng for a new replacement?

Both are the classic C514 gearbox so yes it's a straight swap, however I know nothing about 1.2 version of this gearbox. Maybe it's the same internals (ratio, power limits etc) maybe not.

Just let it be. as long as it's working, it shifts nicely, and does not have any mystery noises.

As long as you managed to install it, and it works i would say it it about the same thing..
A small difference would be easily noticeable, like the clutch not disengaging or different lengths in the drive shafts...etc
