Hi I'm new here and my first post so will probably so daft but here goes.

My battery has gone won't hold a charge, the breakdown guy has told me this anyway last night. So I have managed to get a new battery but I'm going to fit it myself (to save money). My question is do I need anything or do anything special when I change it or is it really just take the bolts out and replace it with the new one and put them back in?

All help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It will take you all of 5 minutes and you will wonder why people pay for it to be done. :)

Battery it's a straight swap job, but make sure you have a radio code if it's an after-market oem radio and notice that it MAY take a while to have a stable idle it's normal. Just go for a ride after you install the new battery.

Thanks for your help guys changed it no problem really was an easy job. Hopefully nothing else goes wrong and I don't have to come back for more advice.

Hi guys me again. My car came up saying airbag failure then the battery light came on so pulled over and turned my engine off now it won't come back on. This is since I changed the battery should I take it to a garage (breakdown will tow me) or is there another reason? Thanks again

I'm afraid alternator is dead.

(Also check the classics, earth cables for corrosion , fusebox for water etc)
