over the last few weeks been having problems with my punto starting, the green flag came out and said flat battery, then it worked fine for a week then it wouldnt even turn over, green flag said starter motor, so fitted a new starter motor, still wont even crank just clicks so i took it into the garage, they said new starter motor and new battery so paid for all that, drove it for a few days and noticed on my way back from work the speedo needle kept dropping to 0 the going back to normal speed. then the enginge light came on, i pulled over and the car, switched off and now the car wont start again, just clicking!! i live on a hill and if i roll the car in 2nd and release the clutch it will start and run fine just will not turn over at all!! im thinking i have an intermittent immobiliser fault? just wondered if anyone has a clue before i spend even more money. Its a 2006 grande punto 1.2.
any help will be greatly apreciated. Thanks in advance.

The battery is 2 days old, would it really die that quickly?? All the electrics seem to be working fine.

So thats the dash with the key in ignition. The abs light flashes on and off. Just tried to jump the car from my mates healthy car but still getting exactly the same.
Getting annoying!!!

I'm pretty sure its not the alternator or battery related because all the electrics work fine and tried to start it on jump leads this morning and wouldn't go. The immobiliser symbol is on and after a massive google session I'm thinking my fob transponder is knackered

Ok don't try to jump start the car. Replace the battery if you can with one you know it's charged and working. Then start the car and read voltage.

Even a brand new battery without a correct charging voltage can be damaged.

I'm not saying btw that the battery/alternator is the issue here for sure, but it's well known that GPs are very sensitive when it comes to charging system.

So running I should be looking at 14v? I'll try it. Could get a reading on the diagnostic computer. Think I might have to take her to fiat :( (bye bye wages)
