Hi,just wondering would it be ok to use 0w 30 fully synthetic oil in a 2006 punto 1.2 diesel ?.I think 5 w 30 is specified,i have a lot of 0w 30 I need to use up.

Err no. The tolerances on modern engines are much tighter and call for 5w30. That said running 0w30 might not cause any lasting damage but I'd only stick to a grade and specification listed in the handbook

I don#t see the problem, either way it's still gonna warm up to 30. oil might not cover tappets and such as well as a 5w at a cold start, but in a 1.2 I can't see it being that bad.


The oil recommendation for my mjet used to be 30, then they *suddenly* changed it to 40 (which I prefer) if they can do that to the operating temp of the oil I'm sure the cold start rating doesn't matter as much
