i know that the title sounds dramatic , but anyone with this issue i wouls apprechiate their help

i have a 2006 grande punto dualogic 1.4 ... the problem is this car will be in gear 2-5 driving fine then suddenly boom... check transmission or gear not selected. this has happened frequently in both manual and full auto mode.

at the present this is becoming a daily occurance. it has happened.. at traffic lights , roundabouts , junctions , whilst over taking , whilst driving down roads.
it happened yday and i had to instantly put on my hazards ( as i was next to a junction with ppl behind me) and to make it worse it wldnt start so i got out , locked it , re opened it and it started up. usually it allows me to coast !!
i am very strict on car maintenance ( it has been serviced earlier this year) once the car i have starts doing madness like this .. i just want to get rid of it... its sad because i have only owned the car since late feb and tbh i have been put off. the fact that it has only done 47,000 miles yet is acting like its on its last knees or wheels shall i say is concerning.
infact this weekend the car jumped from 3 to 5 and reved to 70 then blinked check transmission then returned back to forth. i am now a nervous wreck when driving this car and trying at all costs to avoid unecessey journeys
until this is fixed or i get a new car

i was wondering as i am taking it to get looked over if there is anything that other dualogic owners have done or their garages have done e.g checking certian wires
any advice would be appreciated
many thanks for reading :)

it could be a number of things! i have a dualogic (hate the car) & also can't wait to get rid of it ..i get check tranmission every now & again & manual gear not available ..but car drives fine! the thing is a can't sell it in this state ..i know i have'nt given you any idea what you problem might be ..but best if you got it checked by some garage who has knowledge of dualogics ..most garages won't have a clue!

I like my duallogic. Takes getting used to but its fine. If having transmission issues then best thing is take it a specialist or dealer as could be anything really. To me sounds like a ECU problem but cutting out and starting again may be injectors (air getting in, this a problem with seat problem and ford/Peugeot 2.0 tdci engines). If got access to multiecu and it connects and shows errors then clear them and try again. Sometimes this stops it. You had a look to see if air filter, fuel pipes are fine? Omega22 what you using to connect to multiecu? Also manual gear not available is usually due to not enough revs (is on my duallogic gp)

Hi, I use to connect 3.6 FiatECUScan not read me no errors but I get warning screen review bears no fault monitoring change.

I'm lost engine air filter changed, fuel well pipes, spark plugs changed ... do not know what else I find it dangerous to stay in the car driving N.

Thanks

I remember my old focus (but was diesel) intercooler pipe had a slit in it. It would come up engine system fault and not store a code. Changed and all fine. But being petrol not sure if could be something similar. You tried your local fiat garage? They may be able help you find the problem.
