Hi,

I've had her for over a year now, and I'm considering a few mods.

I've got a 07 T-Jet in Caribbean Orange, was considering putting abarth headlights and a de-badged grill on, for starters.

I'm then thinking about re-furbing and painting the original alloys black. Then maybe moving onto an air filter, BOV and bigger turbo, etc. But engine mods are the far future right now.

So, what I'm here to ask is, wheres the best place to get Abarth headlights? I've found a pair on ebay for 90quid, which seems too good to be true at about 30 quid less than what most on there are. Also, is it possible to get a de-badged grill, but still with the T-Jet logo on the bottom right?

Once I get into it I will show her off with images :)

Any advice would be apprecited,
Thanks
Will

The Abarth lights will be pattern parts, check they are the right fitting though, some of the cheap ones are Lhd.

Debadged grills are available online and you just reuse your tjet badge.

Black wheels usually look pretty good on an orange GP :)

Thanks for the advice, was unaware that I could re-use the T-Jet badge.

The Headlights will either be TYC or DEPO, does anyone know if these brands are good at all? I've seen a bit on DEPO, and they seem alright, but what about TYC?

Thanks,
Will

Ive no idea about those brands mate, mine are genuine ones as Partsworld were doing a good deal on them at the time.

As long as they are E marked they should be fine

Once you have pulled your grill out the tjet badge will come out easy enough.

Depo are a high quality after market oem light supplier :)
Have the abarth depos myself!

Thanks, I wouldn't mind getting genuine, but at around £200 its a bit steep. They currently have the front and rear in a bundle for £300 quid.

Oh, excellent! Do they fit well? I've found a pair for £90, brand new. If they come recommended I can't say no to that price.

They fit perfectly bud! I paid 100 pounds for mine.
Depo are a really good manufacturer :)

Partsworld have the front and rears on offer at 300 but thats how much they are for the both of them anyway :( lol.

Will get a pair of Depo then, 300 quid for genuine is too much for me.

I've found some on eBay for 90 quid, but the manufacturer says TYC/DEPO, so if it is Depo I will get them straight away. I've sent a message to the seller to find out. I've not seen many good things about TYC, apparently they're just cheap.

I noticed in the thread about your T-Jet that you have blacked you indicators, forgive me for sounding green, but how do you go about doing that? Really like that look.

My side indicators??

Yeah, unless I'm imaging things. Which I very well could be

You are not!
I used a tinting spray, the brand i have is foliatec but there are many different alternatives.

If you are feeling flush you can buy them already tinted from ebay for 15.99...

I just did about 3/4 coats on the outer lens (after a light key) and they looked great :)

They get darker as they dry so dont put loads on...

Thanks for the advice, will get myself some paint, the more money I save on bits and bobs, the more I have for other mods :)

Decided I might go for an air filter sooner, rather than later, any recommendations there? I'm looking at Forge or K&N. I see good review for the forge, but the K&N 57i has the Air Filter exposed, which I presume is better for it.

You are wrong, the air filter being exposed in the engine bay makes it suck in hot air which is less dense which can make you lose power.

The forge one is good the only part covered is the side on the engine bay, i have it myself but it is quite noisey because its made of alluminium :)
Another alternative is the GSR which sits down in the bumper, i dont like the idea of this because it can suck water up.

Ah, I didn't consider the hot air. I'm new to the game :)

Thanks for all the advice. Will be looking into a forge kit soonish :)

Ordered the lights :)

Are there any bulbs that anyone would recommend?

Little Update

Wow, what a difference those headlights make to the car! Combined with the de-badged grill it looks like a few years have been shaved off :)

Went for the Nightbreakers in the end, will try those out properly when it gets dark.

Before and after shot attached, I had to cut out the strut thing behind the grill as it was making it so the new one wouldn't quite fit. Will attempt to put Vinyl in between the grills tomorrow.

Productive morning so far :)

Put the vinyl on, was much easier than I anticipated. Tricky bit was getting the bottom grill off and cutting the sides of the vinyl. The bottom of the sides is grooved, so easy to cut, but the top was free hand and not quite straight. For the bottom grill I could only take the top clips out, so just propped it open from there.

If anyone reads this and is thinking about doing the vinyl, for a £5 I couldn't ask for more. It took about a half hour to go through and was very easy to push the bubbles out with a cloth, if you do a bit at a time, from side to side. It really isn't difficult with a bit of patience, but if you aren't confident local body shops wont charge much for a bit of paint there.

Few images attached
