Hi, new to all this and at a complete loss.
I have a 57 plate grande punto 1.9 mjet
When I indicate the headlights flicker and sometimes go off completely!! It has been looked at a number of times and a diagnosis has yet to be found. It's been back to the garage I bought it from and they supposedly fixed it...they didn't! They are now refusing to contact me or pick the phone up to me.
Has anyone else got this problem, heard of this or even know how to fix it??
Any help greatly appreciated

My 07 plate t jet has started doing exactly this when indicating left or when a right indication is auto cancelled. At first I thought I was imagining it as it was only a fraction of a second but now it has become worse and is beyond doubt.

I suspect the column stalk unit as I have managed to dim the lights once or twice by wiggling the indicator stalk slightly fore/aft.

Looks like a new stalk unit can be had for about £150 from a franchised dealer or half that on the net. Got to love fiat part prices!

In case it helps anyone else with the same issue...

I removed the steering column cowling over the weekend and sprayed electrical contact cleaner (Maplin £3.99) in through some holes in the switch unit; the indicators now operate cleanly where as before they 'bounced' (switch on&off rapidly) as the stalk moved. This also seems to have fixed the headlamp issue but I've not driven it in the dark for long enough to say for sure.

One word of caution, the switch unit must have had grease inside as it ran out when dissolved by the contact cleaner; this left the indicators feeling rather 'dry' (not smooth). A spray of GT85 (like WD40) in through the same holes cured it.
