I have just bought a grande punto 56 plate tge rear fog light and reverse light isn't working are these connected? bulbs look okay, fog light bulb was wet when I removed it would this blue the fuse?

Any help would get great

What checks you done? You have a live or earth?

Live but no earth mate

Unplug the reverse switch on the gear box and link the wire to ground does it work now? (Reverse light should be on with ignition or engine running...

As for fog do you get continuity to ground when the light is turned on?

Ignore the last there are 2 wires one live one to ground from a quick probe with a test light so its either a live feed earthing via the bulb to the rear earth point ( behind boot trim under rear light or live switched via earth I can't check more as I'm off out


But since both are out check wiring between centre of boot look up under bumper you should see where wires pass into boot

On the reversing light, you'll probably get no earth until the car is in reverse.
With the ignition switched on but engine not running, put the car in to reverse and check live plus continuity to earth.

You say the bulbs look OK, but have you checked them ?

Thanks all I finally got it fixed, checked to see if it was the reverse switch that came back good turns out the wiring is poor going to need to buy a new reverse light connector as the clamps that hold the wiring are away

as for my fog light it was heavily corroded so cleaned and working good but will replace this side also
