Quick question, out of curiosity more than anything..

Is there an emergency start up procedure with the grande Punto 1.2 8v?
I've read that there is on some puntos because of the immobiliser going wrong you could start it up without using the key as such.. I presume that you would need your cars 'code'

Can you ring the dealership that you bought the car from to get the code? ( I bought mine second hand, if that makes any difference.)

Thanks guys.

Hi,
pretty sure you can BUY the code from ANY fiat dealer after showing ID and giving them @ £30,
with the code you'll be able to get a new key cut + put onto the cars body computer,

the Emergency Procedure = just that.. last resort.. I'm led to believe you have to do this EVERY time until the ECU is rewritten, and keys reprogrammed,

what's the issue ?,
doesn't recognise either key..??

Oh I see, Just thought about it as a 'Just in case'
The Dealership did ask me earlier if I had the code, is it expensive to get a new key cut?
If my key is at fault then this may be a possible route to go down, providing its not an ECU fault, fingers crossed its not!
I havn't got a spare key either, I believe its been left in the UK when I moved to Germany. Careless of me I know.
upon putting the key into the ignition and turning to MAR i have all the lights on that is mentioned in my previous thread. Its so frustrating!

A decent Car locksmith should be able to do a key for @£80 / £100 BUT will almost certainly need the CODE,

AFAIK it's ordered from Italy via the VIN / chassis number,

is the battery Def. good , and the alternator charging..??,

those are the cheap things to check ;)

lots of these errors are due to a poor power supply to ECU :(
didn't you have similar issues in January..??

Charlie

Well thats handy to know then if FIAT make no advance in finding whats wrong with the car tomorrow.

as far as I am aware both batteries are fine (I bought a new one today) both was reading plus 14v
I couldn't tell you if the alternator is charging or not as i cant get the bleeming car to start! haha
I put the ammeter on the live to the alternator cable, i believe its the live straight from the battery, maybe? and manage to get i believe plus 9v, iirc, so many readings today!

How would i check the power supply to the ecu?

I did have some issues back in Jan, not to do with the immobiliser light though, Think at that point was just a low battery, after being jump started it seemed to of been fine after that, after the issues with the windscreen wipers that i managed to fix, thankfully.

Regards,

Jack
