Hi guys,
I have noticed that when steering slowly, the steering makes a cracking sound.
When I'm at a standstill and turn the wheel very slowly to try and hear the creaking, it is quite loud.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
If so, have you fixed it or know what the problem may be?
I fear it may be the steering column but I'm not sure.
I had the top mounts replaced because I thought that was what it was, but it hasn't happens at all :(

Yes the exact same as me! Ive been told steering rack but im not beleiving that so im getting the drive shafts checked out tomorrow and drop links mate also ball joints

I was hoping it isn't anything like the rack...going to be expensive.
Cool, could you tell me how you get on? My car is booked it to be checked out on Friday so I will keep you posted.

If im honest I think he was trying to bust my balls I cant see it being the rack ive only done 30000 in 8 years so im sire it will be a drive shaft or a joint somewhere

No mate suspected driveshaft but no 100% got told my wobble of the car is my buckled alloys so bought brandnew and still does the same :(

If I hear anything tomorrow when I take mine in, I will tell you.
Anyway you can resell your alloys to get the money back? If only mechanics knew what they are doing...I fear most are not any good anymore....

I know well I needed new ones anyway just couldnt afford them really so I was on a budget but they are nice and he said if I keep mine on they will shred the wheel bearings so I kinda had to change.

I appreciate it if yoy would let us know mate!
 
Hi mate,
I'm having to pay for them to check because it involved taking the rack off. Cost is around £30 to check. They've said it's either the steering rack bushes or the ball bearings or something
I think it's going to be a few weeks before I get a definite answer.
But I will keep you updated if and when I get the answer.
