Hi,
My car tells me that ABS is unavailable. The owner's handbook says that I have to take it to the nearest dealership. There is no other problem when driving. Brakes still work although I've been taking it easy and avoiding speeds where ABS may be necessary.
Is there an owner fix or do I have to take it to the dealer and spend the bucks? For the past one month, the security code light has also been staying on (only occasionally going off once the engine has been started)
Any help would be much appreciated.

The first thing to check is the battery charge level, a low battery is a well known cause of ABS (and esp where fitted) errors on the gp. A kwikfit or similar will usually test your battery for free.

Failing that, a wheel speed sensor is the next most likely cause. They aren't expensive but pinpointing which of the four has failed usually requires a trip to a garage with diagnostic equipment.

Many Thanks! hopefully its the battery charge :) It's not driven much these days as I prefer the bike in town.

If it's the wheelspeed sensor, they're only £30 odd on eurocarparts.
My Hill Holder on my GP has been unavailable for about 2 years now (lol!)

Failed the MOT and was highlighted with a few other things, but they diagnosed it to be the front right sensor, so going to get it done after summer sometime.

Let me know how you get on buddy! (y):slayer:
